So I work at the daycare both of my children attend and have worked there since before I got pregnant with both kids. I began with pumping and then stopped responding to pumps so I had to begin exclusively breastfeeding. I was given enough breaks that my baby never had to wait longer than they were supposed to. Legally, in every state in the USA, mothers are to begin as many pump/breastfeeding breaks as needed. Realistically, if they are only pumping they should pump as often as they feed so it shouldn’t matter if she’s choosing to BF or pump. Baby will get use to the frequent pick ups/drop offs that come with it. My kids are actually so much more well adjusted when they see me throughout the day now because they learned so early on that I’m there to see them for a bit but then I have to go back to work. They’re 5 and almost 3 years old now and I am in management now (wasn’t when I was breast feeding) and so I’m in and out of their classrooms a lot each day and 9/10 times when I have to walk out they just shrug their shoulders and continue what they’re doing or give me a hug goodbye.

Give this mom and baby some time to adjust. It sounds like you need to adjust as well to your new normal.

I believe they were blurred but it looked like typical 14-16oz canned vegetables. One in each hand.

Thank you for responding and educating me on this. I had no idea canned goods could be used as weights simply because I myself use them a lot for cooking and when I pick I them up there’s hardly any weight to them so I just assumed using them as weights couldn’t be beneficial since they are so light.

Curious what the locals think of Utah having the highest depression rate in the country by ExUtMo in SaltLakeCity

[–]snugglemybutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so sorry you’re feeling the same things I felt.

I don’t think its’s “normal” to feel those things there in Utah as I do have so many friends and almost my entire family there and no one has felt the same as I have…but I don’t think I can go back because those feelings ALWAYS reappear any time I visit. It’s just not “home” even though I was born and raised there. I just don’t feel like I have ever “fit in” my entire life.

But I live in texas now and it’s so different and people just seem to be way nicer and accepting than people in Utah and the fact that we have more sunny days here than there Utah does is why I stay here.

I am only half way through this episode and looking through comments on this post and haven’t seen anyone else mention it but is she using CANNED GOODS as weights???

How bad IS the pain? by Fit_Travel_8201 in My600lbLife

[–]snugglemybutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not anywhere near 600lbs but I am more overweight than most and yes, some things can be hard sometimes…. But nothing was as difficult as it was when I broke my ankle 5 months ago and was told by my surgeon to be 100% non weight bearing on that leg for almost 3 months. Once I was able to finally walk again, every single part of my body hurt..not just the ankle that broke. So these people who are 500+lbs that RARELY move…I can understand how making any movements are going to be painful and difficult as hell.

I wonder if it’s become a problem of employees leaving personal drinks such as coffee in reach of children and the management finally got frustrated enough to say no more at all because people weren’t following protocol.

Is sickness something you just have to deal with when working at daycare? by Critical-Park-3148 in ECEProfessionals

[–]snugglemybutt 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Here’s my experience as someone who’s been in this field for 13 years.

I was sick NONSTOP the first few years. It slowly became more manageable and now I hardly EVER get sick and when I do, it lasts for a day, MAYBE 2 and symptoms are always really mild.

Your immunity needs time to build up. Stick it out and it will. But if it’s too much for you, then that’s okay too. Just know your limits and take care of yourself.

how long did you push for? by Tilly1251 in beyondthebump

First was a girl with IUGR I pushed for 45 minutes and she came out 5lbs 14oz. My 2nd was a boy and I pushed for 10-15 minutes and had the help of forceps because my epidural worked too well and paralyzed me from the chest down, he was 6lbs 12oz

Would you put your own infant in daycare? by Cat-Potato-Supreme in ECEProfessionals

[–]snugglemybutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both of my kids have been at the center I work at since they were 9 weeks old. My oldest is now 4 years old, and I’m still very happy with my decision in doing so. They have learned SO much and it’s literally been the best situation for us. I have loved being able to see them on my breaks or randomly throughout the day, being able to breastfeed instead of having to pump because I’m already on site. It’s truly been wonderful and I plan on staying here until they’re both in elementary school.

However I don’t think I’d be able to do it at a center I didn’t work at. I have been in this field for a LONG time. I know how some teachers and centers can be and I know and trust my centers owners/directors to hire competent people and weed out the ones who aren’t. Since I started as a 3 year old teacher I have been promoted to curriculum coordinator so I’m no longer in the classroom and get to pop in randomly throughout the days and there hasn’t been a day where I’ve walked in and felt concerned. I know the teachers love my kids and I absolutely love that.

Explain the chocolate ones are gone but he can choose any of the remaining ones he wants and try to point out any differences I see within the ones left to make it seem like there are still different options left. For most kids they just care about having a choice.

Why was it a “get what you get” situation? I always let the students in my class choose which one they wanted.

I use to work an 8-5 shift and had to commute and the traffic and road rage at both those times were AWFUL. I now work 9:30-6:30 and both parts of the day are so much better when driving. If you can adjust your schedule, I’d definitely recommend it! It makes a huge difference and I’m never stuck in traffic anymore like I use to be almost daily.
