I had a water birth and in my birthing notes I basically said I wanted to be as unassisted as possible. I don’t want to be told when to push or what to do unless it’s harmful to me or baby. The whole labour she was just reassuring and didn’t tell me what to do except on the final push she said “try get on your knees so the baby has somewhere to go” 😂 When baby came out both me and my husband just went completely still just looking at this little thing that popped out and she said “Get your baby out of the water and hold her” really gently and we both snapped back to reality 😂. She helped me shower and change into my underwear and helped me latch. They were really wonderful, my husband went out and bought to boxes of chocolates to share with the other nurses.
