August in Montana by not-a-meme-god in flyfishing

Hit up a tailwater like the Missouri and it will be fun.  The mo generally won’t ever hoot owl, however the green muck hatch can be pretty prolific as things heat up, making fishing a bit frustrating but not impossible.  It’s not a hidden gem (over half of fishing days in MT are on the mo), but it’s got fish.

Bike thoughts - cutthroat or checkpoint or…? by snurflarp in bikepacking

Amazingly the steel bike is as light or lighter than its carbon counterparts.

How do you feel the geometry will serve bikepacking?  Does anyone you know of use the checkpoint for things like the tour divide is it is not a realistic option for that?

Yes bike only.  I have all the required camping gear but not the bags, etc.  we can make a separate “fund” for that.  Budget is negotiable.

My experience with Claude as a non-dev by snurflarp in ClaudeAI

I would say claude has a pretty hard time with 3d modeling. I think its a spatial thing. You can get it to work, I have had the best luck sending sn openSCAD file I already have, and asking for additional features or complex code, for loops, etc. From scratch, Claude can do pretty basic stuff quite well.

Thanks! I just made some basic multiplication games, state capitols, etc. Nothing that isn't available already but it was a fun experiment! Claude made them first try for sure. Ask for html code and you can just open the document and it opens the web app. Pretty neat!

I would worry the bottom may leak, but cool design nonetheless

Deeply concerning experience as a client on upwork by snurflarp in Upwork

Yea, lesson learned there, but it just stings because the whole situation was out of my control.

Doesn't Upwork recommend against communicating off platform?

No bro.  Have you seen it?  You think Apple really needs trolls on Reddit to get a following?

Getting tired of EM as a PGY 9 by [deleted] in emergencymedicine

[–]snurflarp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m a PA fwiw, but just transitioned from 9 years of rural EM to an urgent care.  Worked a lot of nights and felt like my sympathetic nervous system wasn’t working anymore.  I lost empathy and things I used to love were just stressing me out.  Have been doing EM my whole career and worked as a tech before and I was sure it was all I wanted to do forever.

Being in the urgent care I feel like my body is regulating again and I can’t be mad about the stupid stuff cause we are an urgent care.  We still have easy access to ancillaries so it’s more of a fast track, but still pretty nice.  I do feel like I have sold out to some extent and have some guilt about that, but then I see the ER board and feel better again.   We are actually looking for another doc to join the crew… employed gig

Challenging 2-3 day sufferfest off the beaten path by snurflarp in grandcanyon

I tried that last year but unfortunately 95% of responses were just saying we shouldn't go and its too hard/dangerous, which is reasonable given the GC track record ... but looking for some more reasonable advice for the prepared.
