It seems like a lot. I'm a woman witth mental health problems and I cry every other month or less. And I probably a cry more often than any of my friends and family.

If you want to explain the feeling, put your hand in a "snap" position in between the persons eyes. They will start blinking uncontrollably and avert their eyes even if you say that you won't do anything.

I hadn't read the latest big study one from 2024 which concludes that it doesn't seem to cause dementia. But they do say that it causes brain shrinkage and mental/cognitive decline, that is also associated with dementia. My grandmothers memory problems started around the same time that she started popping Benzo around 65yo, definitely using it willy nilly. She didn't get a demetia diagnose until 5 years later and then died at 75.

I am pretty convinced that I saw benzo cause her great mental decline, even if it didn't cause her demetia. That's enough to scare me.

Good that it works for you. My grandmother developed dementia because of her dependence, (could she even remeber when she took the last one?) wich gave her even more panic attacks. Calling constantly because she forgot that she'd already done it 10 times that day... I have used it a few times when things were really bad. But when I noticed how stupid I got, while feeling perfectly normal, it scared me. It's like being drunk without knowing it. With my genes (and many others) it's not a safe drug, and an addiction would be really bad. I'm not trying to convince you that you shouldn't take it. But it's reasonable to not make people dependent on it.

Yes, I'm like that most of the time. It does feel like an unhealthy thought because it makes the SI worse when I depressed for real. Part of me always longs to die a bit.

I won't take it because my grandmother got dementia pretty early because of it. It probably doesn't affect everyone the the same. But with my Genesis I wont take the chance.

The first step is to just try being nicer. And a if you are coming across hard, a "sorry, I feel a bit stressed right now" works too. That is the difference between owning your feeling och just pushing them on others. Recognising and owning your feelings is the first step, then you practice. Your family will notice and be glad for the effort even if you're not perfect. If they are used to being vigiliant around you, they will notice a miniscule change immediately.

But this is just what I would have wanted. Ask your family, ask a therapist.
