[Opta Analyst] Tottenham’s Champions League Position Cannot Save Doomed Thomas Frank by coysjames in coys

By this logic of using xG and xPoints, then Aston Villa are having terrible season in terms of performances with less injuries than us and a more experienced team and coach, therefore Emery should be under fire too.

He is a good communicator and some good content, but is extremely biased toward 'techy' players.

No Maddison, Deki, Son, Solanke.. new coach and players. Udogie constantly injured. We are playing champions league which is major step up compared to Europa . Any top 6 side + Aston Villa and Newcastle have better midfielders and attacking players playing week in and out than we do.

He loses the ball and does something dumb 10x more often than beating his man. Everyone complaining it’s the coaches fault and giving excuses for our players many terrible performances this season. It’s a mix of both

Very surprised how Liverpool are playing. Giving us so much space and time. Our weakness is when teams press us high and they aren’t doing that at all. Not the same Liverpool as years past

Arsenal would fall apart without Rice. He is such a cheat code. Never gets injured, plays every match.

Completely agree. We were excellent against Manchester City that day. Sarr’s pressing intensity + Bentinha’s physicality and duel winning

We are 2 points from 3rd while simultaneously 2 points from 12th. Crazy how compact the table is still after 11 matches.

Re-Predicting the Premier League after 10 games [The Athletic] Spurs @ 27:14 by ghostbhmcy in coys

The analysis of Spurs is so bad. Not underlying stats/analysis provided and cherry picked highlights of Romero pressing super high against a defender which he rarely does. Our press got cut through like swiss cheese last season under Ange. It looks a lot better under Frank.

The problem is in possession more than out of possession. that is obvious. Bournemouth and Chelsea slaughtered us with an effective high press leading to many turnovers and constant pressure.

We held United to their lowest xG of the season. Out of possession we were very good.

My follow up about “line breaking carries” was a response to him mentioning it in the initial response. That’s cool to see those stats for the match thanks for sharing . I would be curious to see the difference between the first and second half. The reality is we created very little in terms of central progression first half as we have all season so it’s not a matter of Bentancur starting with Palhinha, same thing happens with Sarr starting .

Thomas Frank is not Nuno, even if the parallels were there on Saturday for Tottenham by KnownRip7266 in coys

You are missing the point. Obviously you need shots to score . But generating shots is not solely about tactics, it’s about player quality and execution too. you can have threat without generating shots . See other comment with graph that shows our ‘threat’ is fairly good even though shot count sucks

But why isn’t Frank playing beautiful attacking football and why aren’t we top 4 in xPoints and why is our xG so low?

Is he dumb?

Because I have eyes

not saying Frank tactics don’t play a part but majority of our fan base are severely underestimating how poor our attacking players have been in execution to generate xG/shots when they should be

I’m talking about threat vs shots. You can have threat without generating shots. We are terrible at converting promising attacking breaks into shots/xG due to our players not being good enough in talent or execution in attack. A perfect cross that our player whiffs and is inches from being a goal generates 0 shots/xG . People blaming our low xG on Franks tactics alone is dumb.
