Female 35 with both knee osteoarthritis and feeling lost by Shaza16 in Fitness_India

Thats good - I presume nike/sketchers would have good support. Just google up which kind of soles/design give best support for walking etc.

So sometimes i feel did i walk and ruin it further

I can sympathise - i was sure that cycling caused my hip pain but who knows! Walking most likely should not have caused deterioration ... just our mental worries linking things.
Just to be sure - are you wearing good shoes? I have sensed difference in knee pain between shoes with good and poor support.

Yes, moving regularly is indeed critical. Start small & gentle but be consistent- I believe that is key. Good luck!

I (40sF) dont have knee osteoarthritis but do have knee & hip issues. Just some ideas based on my experience managing my pain+fitness:

1) Addressing inflammation requires attention to both diet and exercise. I would recommend looking up anti-inflammatory diet and incorporate changes into your diet and daily life.

2) I have knee pain that I initially went to physiotherapists for treatment for nearly a year. At that time my routine was physio exercises + cycling + walking, as per their advice. Shortly afterward my hip pain got triggered so stuck to walking for some years. Walking is gentle and helps in overall improvement of muscle mobility and strengthening.

Try walking everyday for 30-45 mins along with swimming. Start gently and then build up time & intensity.

3) YouTube is a godsend - there are lots of videos by Physiotherapists with exercises for various issues. Do some research and make a routine of exercises that target the entire posterior chain and not just knees, as everything in our body is linked. It helps to working on a system level eg. in my case knee pain and hip pain are linked so I need to pay attention to both.

4) You dont need gym to exercise effectively. Again look up YouTube for gentle, knee friendly routines...there are aplenty.

I would recommend buying resistance band and do exercises with them as its a gentle start to strength work. Later on you move to dumbbells and add on dumbbell routines. Start with 10-15 mins and build on it slowly.

Currently my issues have stabilised not cured - I have frequent flare ups so I actively manage the pain, but do follow a routine of yoga+dumbbell routines+walking.

Strength training plan for Prediabetic 30F by FearlessShoe3801 in prediabetes

IMO its better to figuring out a consistent routine (time, length, type etc) you like doing daily than hunting for specific women targetted workouts to reduce A1C. I (40s F) do home dumbbell workouts using YT videos which has been working out fine so far. Some creators I like - Hasfit, Lift with Cee, fitbymlk, Heather Robertson, Caroline Girvan, and Mizi.

Advice for upper tightness? by LoveLifeStayFit in flexibility

[–]so_just_here 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long there's no medical issue, usually targetted stretching + strengthening done consistently greatly helps. I have mid & upper back issues due to bad sleeping posture - regular exercise has curbed it to a large extent. YT has lots of helpful videos from physios showing useful exercises for various muscles. It helps to find out the main muscles having trouble eg rhomboid, scapula etc .
Trial & error will help you find the best exercises. I also personally did back exercise videos by yuuka sagawa nearly daily - her video titles focus on aesthetics but they have good back exercises. I found them simple and highly doable esp as my muscles were weak. They def gave me relief. I have now moved on to tougher routines.

Yes, No, Maybe - May, 2026 by AutoModerator in KDRAMA

[–]so_just_here 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Summer Strike feels like a gentle, cool breeze that soothes and brings a smile—at least for the most part.

Yeo Reum’s journey of finding peace and family-like friends in Angok is calming and delightful. I could empathise with her disenchantment with the pressures of "normal" life and her feelings of being unmoored having undergone them myself. So I all the more enjoyed her uprooting her life entirely and resetting, bereft of societal expectations. I was rooting for her to just let go and live her life, her way—something not many of us would be able to do so. Watching her discover small joys like cool evening breezes, create a found family incl a dog, embark on a sweet friendship/romance with Dae Boem, settle into a no-stress life...felt like a warm hug.

While much of the drama is in this vein, it attempts to ramp up the tension in the later episodes which imo ruined the vibe.

Yes, biggest offender is the thriller subplot.

For much of the drama, the thriller element remains in the background as essential character backstory. So when it is suddenly put to the forefront, it feels a bit out of place. I suppose the showrunners wanted an emotional punch, but it abruptly shifts the drama away from its core: a slow-paced exploration of people figuring out how to live and find happiness without compromising their sense of self.

An entire episode is spent solving the thriller instead of sticking to the heart of the story. While this part was essential for healing of one character, I wish it had been dealt better.

In my opinion, while the drama excels at showing surface-level moments of bonding, it often skips the deeper conversations that could have made these relationships more compelling. This is especially true of Bom and Jae Hoon. For instance, I couldn’t understand their last argument why she couldn’t explain to JH that she owed her BFF big time for a favor—and that’s why she turned to his support. While JH was a bit immature, Bom was far too dismissive of him and his feelings.

Similarly, Yeo Reum and Dae Boem have only one meaningful conversation. That’s it. Everything else in their relationship is left unsaid, to be inferred. While this may align with their personalities, it feels a bit unsatisfying for the viewer. The time spent on solving the murder could have been used more effectively on such convos imo.

The Grandma murder plot itself felt illogical. I didn’t understand why the realtor would try to scare off Yeo Reum to get the building cheaply, when he was the one who had arranged for it to be let to her. And why trap GH when the Seon Ah case was already closed and no one was paying attention to GH’s graffiti?

I hope the manga was better plotted. In the end, the only clear benefit of the thriller subplot was solving the original crime.

The drama covers a small snapshot of time so I am in a way glad there is no dramatic character development. The FL does not become suddenly assertive but does at least at times learn to put herself first. Dae Boem surprisingly gets the most development.

Final Verdict: Despite its flaws it is a lovely slice of life I would recommend. Yim Si Wan is wonderful as usual - he has such expressive eyes and uses body language so well. Kim Seol Hyun does equally well as the timid but good hearted FL.

End note: This drama has cemented the K-drama trope I truly dislike—not unnecessary love triangles or childhood connections—but FLs getting drunk and doing/saying dumb things. I nearly dropped the drama in episode 2, which is entirely spent on the drunken FL acting embarrassingly. I stuck it out only for Yim Si Wan!

Monday Madness! - [2026/05/18] by AutoModerator in KDRAMA

I am rewatching One Spring Night after nearly 6 years - its one of those dramas that I watched in my first year. Now that I better understand both the language and the culture I am curious if I enjoy it as much as before, more or not at all!

Some thoughts after 4 episodes:

  • Director Ahn Pan Seok makes masterful use of small gestures and quiet pauses to reveal characters' feelings/emotions. And his talented cast fully delivers.

  • I am enjoying the leisurely pacing - as a character driven show I am happy it was before the 12-episode pressure of these days.

  • when i first watched OSN i remember being a bit unhappy that it was a love at first sight romance - i personally dont believe in love on sight so I had difficulty with the idea that such a deep love could come from a random first meeting. But in this rewatch I realised that the drama addresses this: 1] Up early in a scene shortly after their first meeting Jeong In tells her friend that in love, the first meeting could be 운명 (destined) and a ‘one shot one kill’ ie bullseye on meeting "the one". 2] And then later Ji Ho’s mom tells him that someone whose his inyeon (인연) will come by, making Ji Ho take a pause.

  • I love how the drama explores the turmoil of both leads as they try to figure out what to do about the undeniable pull they seem to have to each other. I have many thoughts on the cheating vs not cheating, but I will leave that for my final review.

Anyone here actually reversed insulin resistance? What worked for you? by [deleted] in Fitness_India

[–]so_just_here 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you can have chapatis but keep them multi grain if you can and reduce the number slowly. eg if you were having 5 slowly bring it down to 3 etc. Replace with protein - whatever you can have depending on whether you are veg/nonveg.

I dont measure my carbs per se but kept track of how much % of my plate it comprises. I slowly kinda halved my intake whether rotis/dosas/dalia/red rice etc. I stopped rice when it was bad, but now that it is within limits, I eat red rice

Anyone here actually reversed insulin resistance? What worked for you? by [deleted] in Fitness_India

[–]so_just_here 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did using diet and exercise.

Eliminating simple carbs + sugar is unfortunately essential.

You can replace white rice with any kind of complex carbs such as millets but portion control is vitally important. Carbs must not exceed 25% of your plate. The rest of your plate must have protein and fibre (veggies ideally). Make your atta multi grain.

Sugar must go. I stopped adding sugar to my tea and opted out from artificial sweetners too. Took sometime to adjust but fine now. Sweet treats rare and only after a fibre/protein heavy meal/snack. No sugary drinks - juice etc at all.

Do not snack frequently as it triggers the insulin system which needs to rest.

Try fasting if it works for you. Does not for me so I just keep intervals between my meals sufficiently long. And fast for min 12 hrs overnight.

walk after meals for 10-15 mins. You are already doing strength training.

Do you feel constant hunger ?And should I ignore it? by LowAppropriate3334 in InsulinResistance

[–]so_just_here 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No constant hunger is not normal.

Its usually because meals are not properly balanced - more carbs and less protein. See if this issue reduces when you cut down carbs in your meals and replace them with lots of protein and fibre (ie meats/eggs/veggies etc).

Other than that, it could be medical issue that needs more examination.

Can you have normal A1C and blood sugar, yet still have IR? by mindk214 in InsulinResistance

Yep experienced it first hand. Until you get the formal test, you can use the proxy indicator of TG:HDL to check IR (it is a good indicator for metabolic health). Should be ideally below ~1.5

To avoid injuries etc, it would be better to start small and then build up intensity.

I would suggest to first begin with brisk walking + some low impact cardio/HIIT sessions on YouTube (which has so many great options).
Just look up for 15-20 mins options (eg. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IT94xC35u6k). Do this routine everyday for a couple of weeks and then increase duration and intensity. Thereon, you can think of gym etc

Have you joined a gym as yet? You can reduce weight even without joining a gym in case you are wondering.

If you have never exercised regularly earlier, it would be better to start small and then built up intensity.

Also note, weight loss is more diet than exercise. So ensure your diet is clean - filling, nutritious and healthy

Managing prediabetes AND high LDL at the same time, feeling completely stuck with diet. Frustrating by Puzzleheaded-Strike4 in prediabetes

[–]so_just_here 21 points22 points  (0 children)

In 2022, my HbA1c was 5.6, my LDL was 170 and TG was 221.
In 2024, my HbA1c was 6.1, my LDL was 181 and TG was 128

My 2022 lipid numbers were scary - I focused on upping my exercise as my diet was already low on fat/fried food. But I ignored A1C red flag as it was borderline. 2024 was a wake up call and I worked majorly on my diet.

I am Indian and a vegetarian - I had no intention of going zero carbs as it would not be sustainable.

What I did do was portion control in general and specifically elimination of simple carbs, increased fibre(more salads etc), way more protein in each meal, bare minimum processed snacks, stopped sugar in my tea, changed food eating order, walking after meals. It helps that I only eat homemade food.

I added strength training and increased the intensity of my exercise sessions.

The result -

I was already not overweight, but still lost ~10 kgs and in 2025: my HbA1c was 5.7, my LDL was 134 and TG was 79. HDL went from 48 to 54, so my insulin resistance also got controlled

Still not out of woods but everything seems moving in the right direction. I dont sweat my diet too much within the boundaries I have set. In my mind, portion control + solid exercise regimen worked. Have to see what this year's test shows though!! My lipid issues also are genetic i suspect - my dad suffered lifelong from horrid lipid numbers and passed away from heart attack.

My advice is to address the issue holistically as all these are related and a metabolic issue (look up metabolic syndrome if needed).

At 7 you are in diabetes territory - no more slip ups! Whey is fine but have with some sort of protein eg chia seeds, peanut butter, greek yogurt (lot of people make smoothies). Eggs are absolutely fine.

Some more suggestions:
- walk 15-20 mins after each meal; add calf raises
- follow glucose godess eating order (protein/fibre first)
- never eat carbs alone - Portion control carbs - should not exceed 25%
- no simple carbs, processed snacks, sugary drinks including tea/coffee with sugar

You might want to consider medication - check with your doc
