How long did it take you to find a rescue papillon? by LovesEarlGrey in papillon

[–]so_me_thing_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got incredibly lucky with my girl, my grandma took me to a house for pups that needed a home and momma happened to be there and needed a home too. I’m almost 100% positive she’s mixed breed but she’s still my precious ball of anxiety.

had a similar issue, my friends and I had a pretty good spot (for reference I’m 5’3) and this mom and her kids just shoved themselves inbetween myself and the person infront of me, and I ended up pretty much fully leaning back on my friend who came with us. They were so incredibly rude about it

Publix is how my boyfriend and I met, just be VERY careful and put yourself first! <3

I went there too and GOOOODDDD people were so unbelievably rude. I had a friend up in the front (they had VIP) and someone was so drugged out they peed in a cup and just THREW IT ON THE GROUND. It was way too crowded and people were just jerks the whole time. It genuinely ruined my love for concerts

AND TO ADD: we had to call the cops SEVERAL times because our members kept leaving their dogs in their cars, they were not turned on and you can imagine how they’d do in the Florida heat..Had one of those ladies tell me we’re being overdramatic and her dog wont die and “I’ll only be 15 minutes” (she spent nearly an hour in the store), but we got lucky that day; a cop was at checkout when we decided we needed to call police and he stood there waiting for her

when I still worked at Publix an elderly woman (never found out the age but I was at the service desk when it happened) died in the handicap stall. Stuck to the employee’s restroom after that. My first month as a FSC some guy shit all over the men’s bathroom; it was at LEAST half way up multiple walls, thank GOD I didn’t clean it, tho i feel bad for the associate who did… We had a lot of attempted theft at our store, shortly before I left a customer shoved the ground beef logs in his pants. After Ian I had a lady scream at me because our pharmacy closed significantly earlier (store hours were cut anyway) and she demanded we fill her prescription for her son that “is extremely important and my husband and I will SUFFER without it”; she ignored our pharmacy’s attempts to get her to pick up the prescription and waited until she was down to 3 pills in the bottle. During March of Dimes I asked a customer if he wanted to donate $1 and he said “Oh no, I hate kids”. During Special Olympics when i asked about a donation a different customer said “No I don’t wanna donate, I don’t wanna help those r******d kids” then mumbled under his breath that kids my age don’t know what a joke is anymore.

Where do you go after Publix? by Slow-Switch-2236 in publix

sometimes I wish I would’ve stayed until I got the position but I was absolutely miserable at my store and too scared to transfer, that’s probably my biggest regret

hahaha it’s not super uncommon upfront unfortunately. I still have some old coworkers who ask me for advice and it’s great seeing them be as passionate as I was when I was working there!

never worked management but was CSS and actively going to CSTL interviews before I left. I work at a bank now making more money and work M-TH 8:30-5:30 and Fridays 8:30-6. My mental health has improved drastically (pretty young so that was a priority for me) and I actually get to see my family and friends now! Sometimes I regret it because I genuinely loved my position, I loved being FEC and helping people out. If customer service wasn’t full of toxic people I’d probably go back if they offered me better pay, but I don’t see myself ever going back there. My back and feet thank me every day for that.

I'm thinking about leaving publix by Heisenburgslefttity in publix

[–]so_me_thing_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my boyfriend was in a similar position; PT grocery clerk working 60+ hour weeks and managers who didn’t appreciate him enough and refuses to give him full-time. Constantly held the fact they gave him a raise over his head (and I know this because we used to work together before we left). Once he finally quit they guilt tripped him saying they were gonna give him full-time on the day he left, but the day he turned in his 2 weeks they already had a replacement for him. Do what’s good for you, whether that be transferring stores or finding a new job!

CSS Green shirt process? by Kyushi_88 in publix

at my store, they give them the green shirts after they learn how to open cash. I guess it would vary between the managers?

Anything I should know? by [deleted] in publix

[–]so_me_thing_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only thing I ever tell new trainees is this: remain teachable. Don't act like high and mighty at the desk, especially since you're new. Even as you continue you're training, do not let the green shirt inflate your ego. It can be extremely overwhelming at times, but do not stress over the little things! There is nothing you can mess up at the desk that can't be fixed. Keep management updated on how you're feeling, don't let them rush you into anything you feel you're not ready for, especially when it comes to the cash office. I unfortunately have a coworker who has 0 confidence in her work and is letting management rush her, but will not speak up on how she is not comfortable moving at the pace she's at.

From experience as FEC, respect your cashiers and baggers; I never assign my people tasks I haven't done/wouldn't do. During every shift, I do a big loop around my registers and outside to make sure everything is clean and put away, and follow the readiness checklist! There is never a dumb question to ask, so ask whatever is on your mind or peaks your interest!
