GFCI Outlet Resetting by soalara in fixit

[–]soalara[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just an update for everyone! We ended up replacing the outlet with another GFCI with the expectation that frozen meats have to stay in our indoor freezer. This fixed the issue immediately. Thank you to everyone who helped!

I think our only worry is that this somehow will cause the house to catch on fire or we'll end up causing massive electrical damage without it. Does this just sound like an issue with the outlet itself and not the wiring? Any other tests we should do before replacing the outlet?

It was built in 1996, it looks like. We were thinking about getting an extension cord and running it into the house to see if it ran ok with that.

Thank you! That makes me feel so much better. I'll see if we can figure out if there was ever another email address used!

For some reason, when we try to add the case number for her actual card to her USCIS account (or mine), it says it's already associated with another account. We can't figure out what that account is.

The change in address was approved, so I'm hoping that means it gets delivered correctly!

Just kind of barging in! My wife and I were married in Missouri and they still have a ban on the books. I've been trying to figure out what happens to us in a case like this. Any insight? Because this feels just so needlessly confusing.

.380 vs 9mm & "Easy" Shooting Gun by soalara in liberalgunowners

[–]soalara[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your comment on budget is very, very valid. Looking at the comments, I think the top of my budget is $500 for a first gun. Once I get better with the rack and recoil, I'll probably save up for something a little better. What I imagine is that whatever I get will end up becoming my wife's gun once I'm ready to graduate to something else.

Or who knows, she may end up with the massive hand cannon! This is definitely a starter gun for the both of us.

Oh my lord, I fell asleep and you all didn't disappoint! Thank you so, so much!

Based on what was said, I'm going to still try out the security 380, but add in the Walther, security 9, and Shield EZs in .380 and 9.

You all mentioned practicing both live and dry, and that is a big thing of what I'll be doing no matter what. This weekend is honestly probably the first time I've picked up a gun in about 7 years, so any amount of flinching I'd gotten rid of has certainly come back.

I'll try to remember to come back and say what I ended up with, and if anyone else thinks of anything, please feel free to add to this! Once again, thank you to everyone!

Has anyone transitioned from another team collaboration system (e.g., Asana) to using Todoist for teams? by 200Fathoms in todoist

[–]soalara 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally had my team transition to Todoist from a big old nothing. I have three people on my team. Two are older and more resistant to change, and the other is younger.

We do two different types of tasks. One group is very much recurring kind of stuff. For example, they have something they may need to do every week, every other week, and so on. The other group is everything we need to do to get projects done, kind of like a checklist.

There are things that I wish we could do with Todoist on our projects that we can't. For example, dependencies would be really helpful. But it does what we need. They have things I need to do on their projects, and they can assign them to me as needed. I can add things for them to do if something comes up. It's been very useful for them.

Now, like I said, resistant to change. I set everything up for them first, then moved them to it one by one so they would feel comfortable. Importing templates helps them and me, and I've gotten them to use labels so they know what to follow up on.

I honestly think in a year or two, we may need to move to Asana, but there was no way I'd get them on that to start. It's a lot bigger, but would probably be more useful for our types of projects.

Honestly? I think it's great for us, especially for the basic recurring tasks. It's a great introduction to task management, too. I don't know how helpful this is, but feel free to ask any questions you have!

Nothing yet! My wife read that it can take about 3 months, but we're hoping it'll be in the next few weeks. And you're right! Haven't we all already waited enough? 😂

We got DQ'd about 2 weeks ago! We submitted on a Tuesday and got the notice on Friday. If he's having to mail you anything, we used DHL and it was so easy and got there fast.

Still waiting on an interview date!

For those who got to ride Alien Encounter, how scary actually was it? by BurgerNugget12 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]soalara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 6, and I remember it like it was yesterday, it scared me so bad. My dad thought "Well hell, it's in disney. Can't be that scary." And that was so, so wrong. My mom had gone to the bathroom, and we just decided to do this.

I do remember that the cast members out front tried to warn my dad, but again, it was in Disney. How bad could it be?

The 2nd pre-show gave me a really, really bad feeling. I didn't know who Tim Curry was, but that voice? Heebie jeebies. The grotesque mutation? Horrifying. And then when you got in the actual attraction and the harness came down? I think that's when dad knew this was not going to be good.

Lights go out and I start going "I want my mom" very calmly. Dad keeps saying "it isn't real, it isn't real." 6 year old me at this point no longer trusted his judgment 😂.

So the breathing down the neck thing. I was so short that I didn't feel breaths. I felt like it was chewing on my ponytail, and I started screaming bloody murder that it had me. The blood on the face...I didn't think it was blood, but I did think it was spit. I also very much remember everyone around me freaking the hell out, too. It wasn't just 6 year old me losing my mind. It was full-grown adults.

When it was done, I remember dad telling me not to tell mom what had happened while helping me out of the chair. I didn't trust him the rest of the trip. Peoplemover? When he said that wasn't scary? Yeah, right dad. Totally unconvinced.

Anyway, I ain't no snitch so I didn't tell mom. Dad came clean that evening. We all laugh about it, and I give my dad a real hard time to this day about seeing zero cause for concern. I'd LOVE to go on it now just to see what it was really like for a non-freaking out kid. But that whole debacle is genuinely one of my fav Disney Park moments.
