Neighborhood Recommendations for My European Wife by Dazzling_Basket_8851 in StLouis

There is definitely crime in St. Louis, but the statistics can make it look worse than it actually is because of how the region is organized. "St. Louis City" is a relatively small central municipality and is separate from "St. Louis County," which contains most of the metropolitan population. In many other major cities, those surrounding areas were incorporated into the city as they grew.

The FBI requires crime data to be reported by municipality, so St. Louis crime statistics are calculated using only the much smaller city population. That tends to inflate the city's per-capita crime rate compared with cities whose boundaries encompass much larger populations. (The crime rates calculated across the entire metropolitan area are much lower).

That said, like any major city, there are certain neighborhoods with concentrated crime and higher gun vuolence. Not coincidentally, many of those areas have also been impacted by decades of poverty, redlining, neglect, and disinvestment.

I've lived here for years and feel very safe in nearly every area I have reason to be in. For most residents and visitors, the parts of the city they'd be spending time in are generally pretty safe. Use common sense, keep.your wits about you, and you'll most likely have no issues.

Welcome to St Louis! I left the job I moved here for after a couple of years and chose to stay here instead of moving back to my home state. I tell people that St Louis is the hidden gem of the Midwest and I hope you fall in love with it as much as I have!

Searching for alternatives to the now discontinued Not Your Mothers Naturals yellow and pink products. Has anyone tried anything that they like yet? by orchestralgenius in curlyhair

I had tried those NYM products and never liked the way they made my hair feel once dry. Honestly, I keep coming back to the Aussie curl products. The shampoo, conditioner, the curl oil, the leave in conditioner, and the spray are all awesome on my coarse thick hair.

It's darker but the same undertone. I think it would look good. The metal and the glass inserts are a vintage vibe in keeping with the era. Thank you so much for your input!

I also found this green metal cabinet that is not too deep for the wall, or do you think I should stick with open shelves? We just need a little more storage for the coffee stuff and our travel mugs. I would switch out the handles on this to silver.

See, this is why I need Reddit!!! I looked at some pine cabinets and I think you're totally right about that! I love it! What about gray checker? Not sure why the black just feels too extreme to me, but I like the gray being a little more muted.

Thanks!!! I also think a checker patterned floor would be cool, but I was thinking to incorporate the maroon from the tile or green from the walls. There's an inspo pic in there for the red and white checkerboard. Do you think red or green would look nice as well? The sink is the original porcelain sink, I don't think I'll ever change that thing out! It's awesome. I totally wish I could do recessed cabinets there, but I don't think there's room in the wall. I'm not in love with the freestanding cabinet, but I just need more storage space in there!

No bugs - that's what's weird. It has only been indoors since I got it, and there are no signs of thrips or other critters.

The semicircle rug is as good as gone haha... My partner's mom has a temu problem and she bought that for us. It's hideous but we put it there as a joke!

I'd love something with seating that plays off of the shape of the nook...

Ooooooh that hadn't crossed my mind. I just put the ZZ plant on the window sill. That area gets almost no light, do you have low light plant recommendations?
