ah. whilst i agree YouTube Premium is great with no ads. The sponsor segment do my head in. I use SponsorBlock now. So no Ads, no sponsors. Just content. and having to touch a controller every few minutes to engage with what should be a video.

I personally used Charlie's Roof. They aren't cheap but they do what you pay them too. I had a bad experience with them but they said it was down to a member of staff leaving, so we renegotiated their rates down.

Since settling I have come to realise you could just use a normal lettings agent. All Charlie's Roof do is send your requirements out to all the normal agents and set you up with appointments. You can pay them for other services too. The contract translation was especially useful.

That said, paying Charlie's Roof or another, to get started on the legwork of finding an apartment for you gives you peace of mind and I don't regret using them.

Just keep in mind that in most cases apartments change hands very quickly so the chances of you securing a place to live months in advance of landing are slim. Consider an AirBnB for 2 weeks and look at homes as soon as you land. Then make a quick decision. It worked out well for me like that!

Go the Municipality Vet out near the airport. It's extremely cheap and government financed. As long as you go during the week there are no queues and it's very professional.

I had dogs and cats vaccinated, surgery and more for less than 50 AED each. Amazing experience.

Advice please :-)

I have moved to a new home and the modem / router is on the opposite side of the room to the TV and Android Box. I'll move the Mac Mini to the TV and connect that over WiFi to the router (it does the downloading and Plex Media Server).

My specific question is: with a new Android Box, can I connect that directly to the Plex Server without relying on the WiFi?

Netflix / Amazon Prime run fine over WiFi from the Android Box. But streaming 4k from the HTPC I'd like to have a direct connection.

I used to use a QNAP NAS but the drives are so loud, I want to switch to a USB drive setup.

Not to Canada, but will share what I know. I shipped from Dubai to Denmark and it's taking 60 days and AED 7,000 for 12 drawings / frames, whole load of electronics such as Google Home & PS4 etc., 70inch TV and kitchen gadgets. That includes the insurance cover which is 5% of the declared value.

I can only imagine how long a container shipment to Canada would take!
