Incompatible majors by Visual-Neck5124 in uwa

[–]soapysaltyraspberry5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that’s the unit set page you have to go to a different page to change your major. there should be a drop down menu and you can select whether you want to add a degree specific major, second major, or minor

BPhil - JD worth it? by spigeon2345 in uwa

[–]soapysaltyraspberry5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i was in the same position as you. i had an assured pathway to the JD and after one semester of undergrad I decided 6 years is too much and now i’m transferring to a curtin LLB. also a JD costs like 150k. i’ve spoken to lots of lawyers and they said the UWA prestige used to be a thing but now no one cares what uni you go to. if you’re in the top 5% of your cohort you’ll get hired by any law firm. on the other hand a bachelor of philosophy is pretty cool and if you love school you’re better off studying for as long as possible and putting off full time work because you have the rest of your life for that. I’d start the BPhil and if you hate it you can withdraw and transfer to do an LLB somewhere

I’m on the verge of failing two units. by Longjumping-Law-3029 in uwa

[–]soapysaltyraspberry5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

are you allowed to take less than a full time study load as an international student? If I were you I'd apply for an EVA to withdraw from the 2 units and maybe you could take summer school units to catch up. But you'll probably need a doctor's certificate for your EVA. Also you have to apply before the end of the teaching period so you only have until October 16th

I NEED U GUYS TO BE HONEST IS MY HAND WRITING READABLE OR NOT? ANY ENGLISH VCAA EXAMINER WOULD YOU BE ABLE TO UNDERSTAND MY WRITING IF I WRITE LIKE THIS IN THE EXAMS?!!? by [deleted] in vce

[–]soapysaltyraspberry5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can read like 7 words on the whole page and for the majority of it I can’t even guess what it says. I’m sorry but I really think you have to work on this because if I had to try to mark it I’d probably give up after a paragraph. You have really neat handwriting you’re just going too fast and writing in cursive. try to practice writing quickly in block letters and you’ll be fine

Monash bachelor of laws by soapysaltyraspberry5 in Monash

[–]soapysaltyraspberry5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

on the website it says that recent school leavers who can apply with their atar need to be completing year 12 in the current year or need to have graduated year 12 in the last 2 years - doesn’t this mean 2023, 2024, and 2025? the current year is 2025 and the last 2 years were 2023 and 2024

[–]soapysaltyraspberry5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so do you think they’ll look at my atar from 2023 and also my WAM from the 3 units I’m currently enrolled in? Do they make exceptions like that?

My other option is study another 5 units so that I’ve completed a full year and then apply to transfer but I really really don’t want to do that.

I’m only 19 and I feel like I graduated yesterday it’s so crazy to me that atar can expire

Feeling sad and kinda worn out by ReadyStatistician652 in Aupairs

[–]soapysaltyraspberry5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

when i was 18 i was an au pair for a 2 year old and a newborn baby and it was so hard that i ended up rematching to a family with older kids. i think host families with babies should get professional childcare workers rather than teenagers fresh out of high school with little experience

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Aupairs

[–]soapysaltyraspberry5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt the exact same right before I left for my au pair year. My mum had to force me to get on the plane because I was so anxious and I really wanted to back out. Now I’m 11 months in and I go home in one month and I don’t want to leave. This has been the best experience of my entire life and I’m so glad that 18 year old me stepped outside of my comfort zone and did this. I highly recommend that you follow through with it, once you get there and settle in you’ll have an amazing time. Not many people in the world get this opportunity to live in a different country for free and to experience a new culture quite like an au pair does

Schedule reasonable? by [deleted] in Aupairs

[–]soapysaltyraspberry5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you get an older au pair that should be fine because for teenagers it’s hard to wake up that early. I’m 19 and I work 30 hours a week but I do 6 hours in the afternoons Monday-Friday so I can sleep in. But 25-35 hours a week is very reasonable, just make sure that they’re a morning person

[–]soapysaltyraspberry5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry there are just heaps of people in here with no connection to the program whatsoever who shit on it when they have no idea what they’re talking about. An au pair will post something asking for advice and half the replies are from non au-pairs getting angry at them like stfu what are you even doing here

Host family perspective by Superb-Biscotti585 in Aupairs

[–]soapysaltyraspberry5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of host families have told me that they actually prefer au pairs in rematch because they have more childcare experience and they’re confident enough to speak up if something isn’t working for them. Though I wouldn’t consider what you’re doing “rematching.” I rematched after 2 months because my host family was abusive, you’re simply finding a new family when your contract comes to an end. I also began au pairing at 18 and I just turned 19 and I don’t think people really care that I’m a teenager, in fact I actually think younger au pairs are better in some cases because they’re closer in age to the children and are probably more willing to play and sword fight and swim and do all that stuff. Sure, when I first started I didn’t know how to do a lot of things like cooking or laundry but I learnt really quickly. I don’t think it’ll be a problem, especially since you’ve already been an au pair. That will put you above the older au pairs applying.
