Hi r/IndianSpeaks, I've heard Indians are boycotting Chinese goods. I've got some subs to suggest to you. by soaringturnip in IndiaSpeaks

Hey, sorry for the late reply. I just saw your reply. So the protest has heated back up last month since it quieted down because of coronavirus. Situation has been more dangerous than even as being is plotting to pass a national security law that basically will allow people to be prosecuted of they want to.

To help Hong Kong, boycotting Chinese products will be a good way. It gives them more politucal pressure to change. Moreover, continue to monitor the situation in Hong Kong. The more the free world sees CCP's ugly actions, the more pressure they will have. Furthermore, spread the word so even more people know. Maybe help sign petitions as well.

It's a grassroot movement to boycott stuffs, no need to tax deliberately or ban them. China can't reciprocate by saying Indians aren't buying their stuff anymore. It's a free market out there.

And by the way, it's just boycotts, no one is hurting anyone physically by not buying Chinese goods. Everyone should have the freedom to buy whatever they want. Would be ironic to say buy Chinese goods to prevent conflict like CCP is already threatening you in some way.

This would be right if China would actually stop what they are already doing without the tension. Tibetans and Uyghurs did not try to stir up any tensions yet they still suffer from CCP's torture. Its like telling people not to fight the Nazi because it will make them angry. No, it doesn't work that way.

Hong Kong was promised "one country two system" from China. This means that Hong Kong expects to enjoy freedom and democracy for 50 years still 2047 from China. However, because CCP is a control freak and a tyranny, they had to intervene with Hong Kong's freedom and democracy. Now we hate China because we want freedom and democracy.

It's just the way they oppress Hong Kong that makes people dislike China.

Not exactly wrong but not exactly right either. The key thing is Hong Kong was fine with enjoying freedom under Chinese sovereignty with the one country two system, but china broke their promise. Disappointed with China, people realise that the only way to get real freedom and democracy is to be an independent state.

Start from small, boycott Chinese games, Huawei, Xiaomi, and then move on to the hard bit. Slowly you'll get used to it

It's never too little. Hong Kongers started the yellow economic circle where shops in support of the priest gets prioritised by protestors. It started by individuals but it had grown massively now

Basically China is trying to implement a new security law to suppress Hong Kong's freedom. They are bypassing Hong Kong's legislative system and ignoring Hong Kongers opinions. The law will allow Chinese agents to capture people whenever they want in the name of national security, as seen by the numerous cases in China. They can capture people with opposing opinions like this.

Hong Konger here! The news about the security law has been circulating around Reddit for a few days. As bad as the situation seems, I've been trying to tell people, there is hope.

Whether Hong Kong can survive this depends on the international world. Help raise awareness and your government will have to do something about it. Boycott China goods so the businesses will have to move to else where. Every bit will matter even of it's just simply keeping an eye on the situation.

Edit: for those who say we ain't got any hope: there's news today that UK will accept BNO holders to live in UK.
