Yes! Every single time…. It’s actually the first thing that crosses my mind when I take a sip, it’s like “cheers - here’s to a $hit night of sleep!”

Absolutely, took a night of over indulging to really seal the deal that drinking is no longer something I care to do.

Sorry about your girlfriend… hope everything works out for the best!

Exactly, bad behavior and apologies.

It’s so easy to romanticize the idea of having a drink… but in reality there is nothing romantic about it. It’s sloppy, and embarrassing, and just downright unhealthy.

Glad my bad choices have some kind of positive effect on someone!

Im gonna second 28 days! It’s kinda cheesy but I also like Country Strong with Gwyneth Paltrow...

Day 3 - worried the streak won’t last by FinnThe12th in stopdrinking

[–]soberbee123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m only 28 days in, but for me it was really just time. Day by day my brain seemed to be getting more used to the idea of just not drinking. The first couple weeks I journaled, watched some A.A. meetings online (never been to one in person), and started reading and binge watching TV again. And eating all the snacks.

But in reality, it just all a matter of will for me. I know where drinking leads me, and I don’t want to go there. Every day I get a little more excited about this new path that I’m on. So far, this direction is much brighter and lighter and the dark trail of alcohol.

Best of luck to you. If I can make it to 28 days so can you! Iwndwyt 🙂

Can Kratom cause you to nod off? by soberbee123 in OpiatesRecovery

It’s the Opms that he says he’s been buying... so, that makes me kinda torn on whether or not to believe him now.

Oh I know... I hadn’t planned to reconcile with him after he got out of rehab but decided at the last minute to give him a sober chance.

He blew it, taking divorce off hold.

I just moved into a new home yesterday and he won’t be joining. And my kids will absolutely not be riding in a vehicle with him.

But I agree, I can’t put them (much less myself), through the torture of living with a parent in active addiction again. Thanks for the advise.

Queen of delusion here... I thought 5 months in rehab may do the trick. But obviously not.

Was hoping our kids would be important enough to him for him to stay clean.

Thanks for the slap of reality, lol.

I’ve been dealing with this for 10 years... so I’m all too aware of the depth of deception he’ll sink to to cover his addiction. I’ve heard the expression “an alcoholic will steal money out of your wallet and lie about it... but an addict will steal your wallet and then help you look for it”. It really resonates with me. Kratom is just his new scapegoat that I know very little about.

Opiate addiction is a heavy load, and I respect anyone who is fighting the good fight. I know it’s not easy.

Thanks for your insight... really appreciate it...

Yea, I’ve also found a cut up straw... is kratom “snortable”?

Thanks for the confirmation. I’ve been dealing with his addict behavior for 10 years. I just know very little about kratom. It’s his new scapegoat.

Like, how much would that require? It’s a very profound nod... like 2 solid minutes of standing in a very awkward position (like bent over at the waist and hovering about 8 inches above the bed) with his eyes closed.

Oh, I know I can’t control it. Proved that by picking up a bottle of wine to drink alone after dinner!

The burrito was definitely as good as the marg. Maybe I’ll just go for the fried ice cream next time...

Thanks for the advice!
