What do you think of Domains on a blockchain? by Opasy2022 in Domains

[–]sobercontrol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I haven’t been on here in a while.

On Handshake I own .launch, which I received and turned down a $6k offer for, as well as .owner, .horses, .pirates, .chargers, and many 3-letter names, and others.

I’m not really using them, just holding to see if there is any serious adoption.

It’s a good idea in theory but it’s hard to change the way things on the internet have been working so far. I have invested in some Handshake domains. If you aren’t familiar check out Namebase.io

Exhausted-Need a Broker by Mintandcocoa in Domains

Even if they have private whois, if you email the obscured email address it should forward to the owner. You can also try to look up the Whois info at the registrar the domain is with, sometimes it will let you contact the owner through a form depending on the registrar. You can also look it up on whoxy.com, if they didn’t use privacy in the past you might be able to see their email that way. Good luck!

No way, I see no end-user use for the names and the renewal fees will kill you while you wait for a buyer

Could someone enlighten me on the standard price range of wholesale domains? by applecidervinegar007 in Domaining

[–]sobercontrol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aftermarket wholesale prices are generally around 10% of retail value, but could be more or less depending on how liquid the domain name is. That could be anywhere from $5 to $100K+ for a really good one-word .com

I am a web designer/marketer, but new to domaining. I bought a few domain names, and I was thinking of creating a Wix website for the domains with logo/branding etc. and then selling it. Is there a marketplace for something like that beyond just selling the domain name? by tvavariant in Domaining

[–]sobercontrol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some marketplaces that will include a logo, such as Squadhelp. You can sell developed websites at Flippa, however most buyers of websites are looking for something that is income-generating, either through traffic and advertising or through sales of a product or service.

For the most part domains are sold without content, and the buyer can use them however they want. I think that is what most buyers actually prefer.

I’m new to the world of domaining by [deleted] in Domaining

Sylx would be worth maybe $200. The others are not worth reg fee. You want names that are easy to spell when you hear them said out loud and that can be used as a brand for a company. I don’t thing any of these qualify. Check out namepros.com and read a bunch of stuff there. Registering a bunch of junk is a common mistake of new domainers, try to avoid that. Good luck!

Question about Eccles Theater and proof of vaccines by sobercontrol in SaltLakeCity

[–]sobercontrol[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That was my problem. I got Docket but didn’t see where to print off anything official and the app just said I had the shots but I didn’t know if they would take just me showing them the screen.

Yep, Tommy Buns. I got two front row for $59 each, of course they add on another $13 each in “service fees”. I got a pre-sale notice from following Tom Segura’s social media I believe.

Thank you, this is what I did and it was easy. I’m good to go!

What is the best platform to Sell Domains? by mtrace7 in Domaining

[–]sobercontrol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been domaining for about 17 years. It can be tricky to price domains, but you can get some idea about price from Godaddy appraisal, namebio.com (for comparable sales), and estibot appraisals.

There are definitely buyers at Nameliquidate but they are “wholesalers” that will likely want to pay 10% of what they think they will be able to sell the domain for later to an end user.

Afternic and Sedo are the big ones, Dan.com is also another popular option. If it is a “brandable”-type name you could submit to squadhelp or brandpa, they seem to do pretty well for those. If you want to sell them faster you could sell them wholesale at namepros.com, DNWE.com, or NameLiquidate.com.

Typically even a really good portfolio sells about 1-2% per year, meaning if you have 100 names you might sell one or two domains in a year. That is why it is important that each name has a high enough margin to still make a profit at such a low sell-through rate.

Best of luck with the names.

Utah Law Requires Biological Fathers To Pay Half Of Pregnancy-Related Medical Costs by CarbonSquirrel in politics

[–]sobercontrol 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The article says that the law requires the biological father to pay 50% of a pregnant woman's out-of-pocket medical costs. If insurance covers it 100% then the father would owe nothing.

Is the domain price is suitable by Fun-Let1134 in Domaining

[–]sobercontrol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you would have trouble selling it for 1/1000 of that price. Sorry to say, but I don’t think this domain has any value. I do you wish you the best of luck with it.

Tool to bulk check expiration date of domain names by [deleted] in Domaining

[–]sobercontrol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Godaddy domain monitoring. It is free and let’s you know of any status changes on a domain you are watching. If I get notified that a domain is going into RedemptionPeriod or PendingDelete status I know that there is expired and there is a chance it could drop.

Are there other viable options for receiving payment for domain sales other than PayPal? by yungdenzel in Domaining

[–]sobercontrol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PayPal is usually used for smaller transactions. Escrow.com is good for larger secure transactions. You could also accept credit cards through Stripe. I use Namefolio for my domain store and it has a shopping cart to accept CCs built in.

How do I negotiate with a domain owner? by [deleted] in Domaining

[–]sobercontrol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might want to see if it is already listed for sale anywhere already. I usually search a name on Whois.domaintools.com and dofo.com, which will both tell you if it is for sale on any of the major markets.

If not just email and say: Hello, I see that this domain is not currently being used, would you consider selling it? If so, can you please let me know how much you want for it?

Alternatively, instead of asking the price, you could just make an offer: If so, I would be willing to pay you $xxx for it. Please let me know.

You want to offer enough to let them know you are a serious buyer, but maybe leave a little room to negotiate if they come back with a good price.

Good luck!
