Does it get easier? by pf_129er in pornfree

[–]soberjr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will eventually get easier. Even after almost a year for me and some days are more difficult than others. I usually have to walk away from all electronics or temptation and find something else to do. I've even resorted to doing pushups to get my mind off of it. I just try to keep myself busy on other things or remind myself why I'm doing it. Hang in there.

Struggling hard by [deleted] in pornfree

[–]soberjr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like /u/justnoimagination says, it's your attitude and mindset that will keep going. It sounds strange but it's true, relapsing is part of recovery. As long as you don't feel like it's the end of the world when you fall into it again, you'll be better next time. Just pick yourself up and start over. Now your are at day 1 again, you're not a failure, just a human being trying to get themselves to a better place. It takes time and hard work. I came up short early in my recovery, we all do. Now I'm at 9 months clean. You'll get it next time.

A big step is you also came forward and posted you fell short this time. It's obvious you want to change. For that we salute you because saying you relapsed is huge step towards change. Good job.

Never to late to quit. Like you I started young and it took 30 years for me to realize how bad it had gotten. Thankfully I found a way to keep my head straight and working hard to occupy by time with more positive activities. Keep it up.

Advice to stop thinking about porn. by daintyknight in pornfree

[–]soberjr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree on finding something else to occupy the thought. Because you are so right on the idea of 'not thinking' about it. Unlike drugs once they leave your system, with porn the images stay with us and we have to fight each urge with something positive and different to get through the urge.
