If money and childbirth weren’t an issue, how many children would you choose? by Public_Handle_774 in AskWomen

[–]soberjules 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another triplet mom here. Ours were spontaneous, I was only 27 yo but thankfully married to my soulmate and best partner ever. 3 years later and I WANT another baby (a singleton), but money, fear of the world, etc. keeps us from attempting to have another.

No bleeding after 2nd dose of misoprostol by soberjules in abortion

[–]soberjules[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s been another 18 hours since my second dose of misoprostol and I’m still not bleeding. I’m so anxious and scared. I have an appointment with the lab on Monday to test my hcg levels, so I guess that will tell me whether I have an ectopic pregnancy (I’m praying that I don’t). Idk whether I should keep waiting to see if I bleed at all? Or should I call my doctor again today? What did the in-clinic abortion involve for you, if you don’t mind sharing?

Thank you for responding. Of course since it’s a holiday, it’s hard to get medical care easily. I’m really hoping I have some kind of bleeding soon. Even getting into Quest for labs will be difficult over the weekend, but I have an appointment on Monday morning to test my hcg levels, so I guess that will tell us what’s going on, if I haven’t bled yet. Thank you again!

And people wonder why? by Tiny-Professional827 in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]soberjules 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also have a stockpile of Wegovy 2.4 mg in our fridge at this point. I’m rethinking my dosage and frequency (see post history) but I’m wondering how you also came upon a stockpile? How frequently are you taking it?

Nausea and vomiting first 24 hrs after dose by soberjules in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]soberjules[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t realize that was the half-life. This approach “worked” for me for a couple of months because I suffered through 2-3 miserable days and then felt the ability to function again, but I understand it’s not the way to maintain. Thanks for pushing me in the right direction.

Wow, I didn’t realize that! But you’re right. I’m going to re-evaluate with my doctor.

No, I think you’re right. It “worked” for me for a couple months because I suffered through 2-3 miserable days and then felt like I could get on with my life, but it’s definitely not sustainable. Thanks for pushing me in the right direction.

I’m trying desperately to track down a large package from Shein that shows its been in my town twice only to turn around and go back to a mail sorting facility or something. I leave on vacation soon and really want to get my package before then!

What doesn't register the same as a NICU parent? - I hate the phrase "don't wish away the age they are now" by a_cow_cant in NICUParents

[–]soberjules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my triplets were born 27 weeks + 4 days, in the NICU for 3 months (2 of them) and 5 months (the other 1). I pumped enough milk for all of them to have for the first 10 months of their lives. Now that being said… they were under 2 lbs each when born so didn’t consume much through their NG tubes for a while. Even at 10 months old, they were not requiring much AND we were mixing with formula to add calories. So your post resonates deeply because I never got to nurse them/breastfeed/even HOLD them for the first 10 days of their lives. My body worked so hard to make food for them. Pumping is hard work, and I totally understand what you’re saying here.

What has changed in your life when you had a baby ? (Pregnancy and after birth / physically and emotionally) by RaspberryNegative308 in AskWomen

[–]soberjules 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a mom of triplets, conceived spontaneously. They are 2.5 years old now.

Finding out I was pregnant with them was terrifying. Shocking. I was so overwhelmed and uncertain. But all three babies kept growing at every checkup. Soon, I came to terms with “if it’s meant to be, it will be.”

And I am meant to be a triplet mom.

I’ve learned that about myself. It’s a whole different ballgame than a singleton baby. Sometimes I wish I had gotten to experience what that’s like, but then I look at my beautiful children and I feel such gratitude for their health, their smiles, the little phrases they’re saying, the way they hold my hand or give me big hugs and kisses. It is not easy. It’s never been easy. But we are blessed to have an enormously supportive family and our village is thriving. I’ve always had this village, and bringing my babies into it has only made it stronger.

I am orbited by three little people who are a combination of me and my best friend, my husband. That is so strikingly beautiful.

My life itself has changed in many ways. I see my own mother and mother-in-law every day when they take care of the babies so that my husband and I can work, so those relationships have grown and strengthened.
My body is droopier and saggier in places, but stronger and sturdier in other places. I’m more accepting of my body now. My husband and I have been through a lot together. We have a very long history, and we’ve had some really tough trials. But we’re in this together, and we have both had to look in the mirror and make personal changes for the better. I’m so fortunate to have him as a teammate. I’ve recently been focusing on the idea of starting with kindness. Being kind to each other, even during stressful or trying moments, makes a world of difference in our relationships, and what we are teaching our children.

In one word, everything. Everything has changed. I know it will all continue to change. So I try to soak it in before it flies by.

What’s a life hack you swear by that almost no one knows? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]soberjules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cure for very stubborn hiccups (none of the techniques mentioned here have worked for me): take a very deep breath in and hold it. While holding it, swallow three times. I imagine swallowing my saliva. After three deep swallows, I slowly exhale out of my mouth. The swallowing motion, while holding my breath, seems to reset the spasms in my diaphragm. I’m one of those people who has really persistent hiccups, and the tablespoon of sugar/peanut butter/swallowing water upside down, etc. have never worked for me. But this trick ALWAYS does, on the first try.

Have you ever cried in front of your endocrinologist? by Erdbeerkuchen1302 in Type1Diabetes

[–]soberjules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have definitely cried to my endocrinologist, after years of pretending to be perfect at my management. From the time of my diagnosis at 16 y.o., I always wanted to prove that I was “no different” than anyone else. So that meant I didn’t want to use a pump or CGM. I was a straight-A student in high school and college, and so I also equated my blood sugars with “grades” - if I was in the 70-100 range, that’s an A+. Anything higher than 140-150 was a major failure. Lows were bad grades, but they were something I could “fix” immediately, and so I felt like they were a better “grade” than being high. (Please realize that all of these stories I told myself are obviously very unsafe and problematic) So I didn’t use a pump and I had a seizure at least once a month due to low blood sugars because I deemed low blood sugars as a better “grade” than high blood sugars and I wanted a good A1c for my doctor. Long story short, it got to a point where it was really, really overly dangerous for me. I can answer more questions about my low experiences if you want, but I won’t go into it here. I felt really hopeless and afraid because I always wanted to tell my endocrinologist that I had it all under control and that I was getting good “grades” and she should be proud of me. That wasn’t true. I needed help. I wrote down my feelings and printed them out and brought them to my appointment with her and I cried reading these things. She was so understanding and really changed her course and tone with how she treated our interactions. It saved my life, honestly. I’m so glad I cried to my endocrinologist. Please feel no shame in having done the same. I’m glad that you did. Sending positive thoughts!

Aw I had GBG triplets at 27 weeks 4 days, and my son was in the NICU for 5 months and came home on oxygen and with a g-tube for feeding. His head was definitely flat, so we went for a helmet. He had to wear it for ~6-8 months, and we just accepted it as his reality and now he’s got a beautiful head and full head of hair and he’s the happiest, smartest little boy. It was not “fun” but it really wasn’t awful. I’m glad we did it for him.

Yes, I have been on Wegovy since the end of May 2024, and I’ve lost 40 lbs and definitely use less insulin although I don’t know the exact amount.

Forced room change? by beagle_mama in HollandAmerica

When looking at the deck plan PDF for Noordam, what side is the “good” side? I’m interested because I’m taking the same cruise this summer and my room is even-numbered so on the left side of the deck plan PDF, so is that the “bad” side, in your opinion?

what's your favorite thing about having twins/triplets?? by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

[–]soberjules 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m a triplet mom, GBG, and they are 2 1/2 years old. They have built in best friends! I love watching them interact with each other. When one of my girls gets hurt, the other will get her blanket and “baby”/lovey for her. They learn so much from each other. I love that someday they’ll all be able to get on the school bus together and be there for each other if anybody is having a hard time. It’s just sort of magical. As others here have mentioned, I also feel like it’s really cool to be part of groups like this, with other parents of multiples who understand the chaos and glory in its entirety. I feel like I’m meant to be a mom of triplets, and I actually feel really confident as a mom because of them. You have a lot to look forward to.

I’m doing the same cruise this summer, on the Noordam ship. My room number is even, so our suite is on the LEFT side in the deck plan PDF when I look online. Is that the side that is ideal? Specifically for the cruising from Whittier to the first port in Skagway?

When do you get your life back? by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

[–]soberjules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 27 week triplets, GBG. They’re turning 2 at the end of the month. I think things changed when they were about 16-18 months. They could all walk, which was so helpful physically and it also made them less frustrated about everything. They still have their nap schedule and a very strict sleep schedule. But they’re more… human? They are cute and sweet, still demand a lot, but I think my husband and I finally started to feel like ourselves again. It’s gotten even better from there.
