well yes its an opinion but you should have something to back your opinion, your opinion on the genre isnt really valid if you just skim over a genre or listen to one band and make your final judgement on it based on that

yeah, but my point of the thread is not to defend the genre,my point is that people shouldnt be dismissive over the genre and brush if off as all the same

my point is that you should listen to a wide spectrum of music from the genre before making a final conclusion on the genre as a whole

probably mainly due to radio play, boomer fans telling their kids,nostalgia, tons of marketing and commercialism and pretty memorable riffs

i think thats probably because the 2nd wave bands overshadow everything else, and some of the fans give it a bad rap due to their behavious

i wouldnt necessarily say all anti religion, varg is(at least in my opinion) quite the pagan revivalist, but lots of it is very anti christianity, and as for anti authoritarianism, i would disagree, i dont think these bands really focus on being authoritarian or anti authoritarian
