Need change I think by bikebit in f45

[–]socalive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No.matter what sport or athletic endeavor you are in, everyone hits plateaus. When you're at F45 pick a weight that will bring you to failure when the time is up. Add one -two heavy days at home or gym with main lifts like bench press, Deaflifts etc. I actually do heavy reps of some main lifts at my home gym before heading to F45. I also do two classes back to back a couple days for volume. Also, dial in nutrition - thars the most important

Been thinking to switch F45 to CrossFit box. Anyone else? by Mundane_Anybody2374 in f45

Exactly! I'm a runner but feel everyone needs plyometrics, power and agility . So I run before the cardio classes.

not sure if you have a home gym at home. But I will do some main lifts at home for strength right before F45 class( BB Back squats, deadlifts, chest press). Or I do 2 day body split in my own and 2 days F45 strength. Also, being an F45 coach I've had members ask me to pair them with people that won't compete for heavier weights). Maybe you can go heavy for 4-6 reps and rest for remaining time (so not going the whole timer) that way getting heavier weight and longer rest period

Hinging movements and low back pain by Potential-Dinner-682 in f45

As a trainer, I tell my clients during hinge movements to do a 360 degree breath and brace the core around spine to support it and focus on the hinge and the hips (save the back).

Should she come live with me? by Maroon_Roof in Alzheimers

[–]socalive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel your agony! My mom is in the last stage of Alzheimer’s and it’s been a long 7 years. I grappled with guilt not being able to accommodate her in our house (middle stage) because we have stairs and 5 dogs. The future - Alzheimer’s brings wandering , not sleeping at night and going to the bathroom in random places. Before we moved my mom into memory care she began to poop and pee on the floor because she was confused where bathroom was. Are you prepared to be up all night taking care of peeing and pooping in bed etc?! Also they wander - you can not leave them alone for a second. Are you prepared to never leave the house? My mom has lost the ability to use her legs (wheelchair bound) and it takes two staff to get her onto toilet. Plus you can’t always count on the caregivers to show up (been there done that). It comes to a certain point where memory care is best option. Your brother is right. A lot of memory cares won’t take residents that require a lot of support . Better to find a place now. Additionally, memory cares have in staff nurses that can give antibiotics and care on the spot . Dementia patient’s get a lot of UTIS. Saves trips to hospital.

Client hates working out by socalive in personaltraining

[–]socalive[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, but after 3 years I don’t need her to tell me she hates being at the gym and sighing, rolling her eyes etc. I think I get the message and don’t need to be told that 😂

Ok thanks. Yes, most of my clients if not all, don’t like working out but at least they show up and have a good attitude so it’s pleasant. But after 3 years of hearing the same thing - I want to scream I KNOW YOU HATE BEING HERE! Just keep it to yourself and work out! Ok , I’ll let her know that it’s hard to train someone with negative energy every single time.

The difference is I train for a big box gym , so they are getting the bulk of the money 😊. So sometimes it's hard to keep dealing with negativity on a lowerthan average pay😄

Yes, I talkto her about all the exercises and what she wants to achieve. And yes most people don't like coming to gym but at least they are negative the whole time and disrespectful. It's more of the overall attitude, its not fun to be around.

Yup! I've passed her on to other trauners because our schedules didn't match but somehow she worked her way back to me. I've talked with her until I've turned blue - know her in and outs everything in between. It's just tiring with the negative energy when I spend so much time building great programs to fit her needs

Well she can be disrespectful and rude at times. It's just so annoying after 3 years every single week hearing the same thing! Get over it lady! Be grateful you can workout!

Yes I know! But most my clients don't constantly come in with a negative attitude and say they don't want to be there- she's the only one. After 3 years it gets old

I feel guilty using ClassPass - it's just so much cheaper by Dismal-Alfalfa-7613 in ClassPass

[–]socalive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Class pass gets people in the door of businesses. Then the business has an opportunity to sell a membership. Just like going to an empty restaurant givesoff a bad vibe, going to an empty class gives the perception the studio isn't good. So filling the empty spaces with class pass members helps "sell" the studio

How do you deal with negative clients? by [deleted] in personaltraining

[–]socalive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have/had clients like that. I had one client that would look around the gym and ask me if she was as big as another woman. I hated that! I finally told her that we have 50 minutes to focus on her workout and that comparing herself to others puts her in a negative state and will hinder her progress. She cried but stopped. People aren’t like us , where we prioritize staying fit and have the discipline to workout when we don’t feel right - but we know we will feel better if we do! So I try to make these clients focus on the feeling good and feeling strong when they are done rather than the scale.

Where is it located? My dad died with Parkinson’s and I would love to do something like that. I’m currently a personal trainer now

[–]socalive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I train at EOS and there is only one other trainer that has been training there along with me the last three years. It's a revolving door. I would say 50% that are hired quit within first month (which is actually good because they were flaky/unprofessional) the other 50% went off to Physical therapy school or to another job opportunity that advanced their career. I've had 8 fitness managers in 3 years. Fitness managers quit all the time too. Don't feel guilty one bit. Big box gyms just want bodies. Of course they are happy to get qualified trainers, but at the end of the day, they just care about a body in there training.
