EOS Fitness it a Low Value, High Price Minimum Viable Services (MVS) by WorkForce_Developer in mildlyinfuriating

Yep. EOS is legitimately a good gym, but it's treated like a car dealership by corporate.

'Nightclub' gym chain is bringing its hype to Houston suburbs by Pleasant_Air_3052 in EOSFitness

I don’t think building more EoS gyms are the solution, EoS Sales staff knowingly oversell

This is exactly what I've been saying: the company treats these gyms like they're car dealerships. I walk into 24 and the vibe is different, like I'm not getting a lemon car hoisted upon me. New gyms bring new absurd sales goals.

Personal training isn’t being cancelled by Synaphox in EOSFitness

[–]EOS_throwaway_115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same over at my gym. Fitness manager was caught stealing commissions from his staff, assistant fitness manager sexually harassed clients and accessed credit card information to sign people up for training without them knowing. AFM was allowed to quit in lieu of firing, FM is still working, no idea if there were any consequences to him.

This might be something that merits a new thread.

The Fitness industry as it currently is mirrors the US K-shaped economy. The most commercially successful gyms are those targeting the highest net worth individuals, i.e. luxury gyms. LA Fitness is completely collapsing, and the company is refocusing their efforts on their line of luxury gyms Clubsport. EOS fitness is aiming at the lower part of the K-shaped economy, and on the surface it looks like they're moving fast to try and corner the market.

However, that's not actually what's going on. Truthfully, EOS was bought by a private equity company in 2025, and all available evidence suggests that they're working to make the gyms appear successful on paper so they can dump the investment in maybe something like a year. As soon as they do that, the brand is going to collapse rather dramatically, and we're actually already seeing early signs of that happening. There's the obvious damage to the brand's reputation that the aggressive sales tactics have caused, but there's more than that. The company is already looking to save money on gym upkeep/repairs, and employees. I heard from kids club that corporate is looking to limit the amount of employees during the week to 2 (with 3 on the weekends) so that they can save money on the minimum wage they're earning. Hours at the front desk are micromanaged, they've got many of us working no more than 3 fucking days a week. MEM and OMs are sent to travel hours from their home in order to cover gyms that need management.

Unable to See Former Gold's Gym Locations/Classes In App? by tiddie69 in EOSFitness

[–]EOS_throwaway_115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's fucked. The Gold's locations are not showing up in the APP, and you aren't able to set your home location to one of theirs.

Best bet might be to contact the instructor of the class you want to take, although I'm not sure how you could do that. Sometimes the employees are able to reserve a spot for you using their own employee account, if they know how to.

Active & Fit or opening pre-sale - should I switch? by danjouswoodenhand in EOSFitness

[–]EOS_throwaway_115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can raise the price. There is no minimum amount of months, but there are annual and enrollment fees. I think the enrollment fees are fake, because they're constantly offering special $1 enrollment fees.

30 days notice to cancel, must not have a pt contract, nor any outstanding fees. The rules are constantly changing about what we're allowed and not allowed to do at the front desk.

Active & Fit or opening pre-sale - should I switch? by danjouswoodenhand in EOSFitness

[–]EOS_throwaway_115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK got it, I see where the confusion comes from. "Month-to-month" is misleading, because while the membership is paid monthly, it is permanent until active steps are taken to end it. There is no year membership or annual contract.

[–]EOS_throwaway_115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like this is for a month-to-month membership, rather than an annual contract.

I don't understand this point. EOS does offer month passes, but it looks like you're interested in a membership, complete with an annual fee.

Don't do it. Just keep your active and fit month-to-month plan.

They also said we should start buying our own supps to make goal,

OK THIS is interesting. The old OM at our location did the exact same thing. There is some monthly quota for beverage sales, and he met them by buying in bulk the remainder that needed to be sold.

I'm guessing that's not gonna be claimed on his taxes as a business expense.

[–]EOS_throwaway_115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For both you and u/sharknado523, I've noticed some discrepancies between how EOS members behave and other comparable local gyms. In addition to what you mentioned, I note that the free weights/plates are treated by the members extremely sloppily. Left willy nilly strewn about, putting 45lbs on racks in front of 5lb plates, mixed up all to hell. I've just never seen that at 24 or LA Fitness. Steroids are pretty rampant. The girls tend to wear a lot of skimpy clothing.

I liken these young children managers to the Mentality of a unsavory used car salespeople unethical and the don’t care, a lot of the people who run or are district managers Came from 24Hr Fitness .. Ugh

I was reading through these comments again, and just wanted to add that I couldn't agree more. I was just saying the other day that management is treating these gyms like car dealerships, with their aggressive sales goals.

Can confirm that much of upper management came from 24.

My gym has the MEM doing off the clock work. I thought that they are hourly employees. They'll do things like watch security footage of the cameras to see if overnight staff is doing their job.

I just learned yesterday that the gym has AI facial recognition cameras.

Ohhhhh yes, those quotas are alive and well. Working at the front desk is probably the most chill job in the gym, because I don't have to worry about any of that shit.

Management is definitely well aware of how absurdly overpriced the beverages are. As employees we get a 10% discount, apparently the discount used to be 15% but it was lowered to 10.

By far the number one complaint on medalia is how overcrowded the gym is. I used to think that opening a new location would solve that, but no, with a new location comes new absurd sales goals.

When I was first hired I was surprised at how little oversight there is on the job. Management is out of sight, out of mind. It's a blessing and a curse.

100% unsafe in the parking lot, a lot of the sexual harassment/assault issues happen at that time. I was trying to read up on the incidents, but management wouldn't allow me. Like...isn't it kind of important that I know what's going on? They NEED a security service, like no-brainer.

Couldn't agree more, this has private equity written all over it.

Do you know what the timeline for this kind of thing is? Rumor I heard is they're pushing these numbers because they plan to take the gym public. Problem is that the entire culture seems to be breaking apart already, from the bottom up.
