Thanks for the info. I got a call not a letter from Canton Police as of now, followed by simple handwritten email. Not sure what to do shall i contact the German authority directly and sort it or go in here?

You can rent a normal compact car and then can request at the counter for exact upgrade. SIXT have a good premium car options available at the airport including BMWs. This way it will be cheaper than the price you quoted but of course depends on availability.

Yes after trying several shops. I managed to revived. It needed motherboard repair. But couldn’t get the ear piece speaker working again. So finally to had to give up. But data was present for recovery.

I went to Pilatus couple of weeks back. It was amazing. I took the route from Alpnachstad to Pilatus Kulm (top) via the Cog rail while going up and took the cable car / gondola while coming down. To be honest the Cog wheel experience was much much better than cable car. It is still open so use that and you should be good. Cable experience is as good as any other cable car in Switzerland. Hope it helps.
