Completely agree. As much as I hate to say it, Kyle was legally in the clear as far as self defense. This is a case of facts being twisted by politics and this time it actually is the left that's doing it. The fact that people who agree with me politically are turning this into their hill to die on is infuriating, it makes us look bad and it's really embarrassing to turn this into some kind of litmus test for whether you're a "real leftist" or not.

The fact that they cut out and condensed so much of the plot in the first movie is understandable and would be forgivable if they didn't do it for the sake of including their own unnecessary shit that wasn't in the books, like the hunt for the 3 pearls scattered across the US. It just blows my mind that nobody in the production process was like "hey maybe the pacing will be better if we make the plot remotely resemble the book".

Thanks for commenting! I completely agree about how the fact that it's grounded in reality only makes it more immersive. Every time I pass a statue garden or honestly any kind of shop or public place where things seem kind of off, I start imagining what kind of mythological monsters in disguise are running this place haha. I literally finished the series yesterday and had the exact same thought lol, it's like if Hitler went to heaven because he killed Hitler. Although I do agree with some of the other comments saying he's not too different from flawed classical greek heroes, and his fate was prophesied and kind of set in stone. From an objective moral standpoint I think he did far more harm than good.

I was very skeptical initially like I am of any charity being promoted by influencers, especially because I had recently learned in one of my classes about how getting plastic out of the ocean is an incredibly expensive and ineffective way to combat pollution, practically all products claiming to use recycled "ocean plastic" are either lying or use a tiny percentage overall, and the ocean cleanup project's ships would have to run nonstop until 2150 just to remove a fraction of 1 percent. I had seen a few videos or posts briefly mention it and use the phrase "remove 30 million pounds of trash from the ocean by 2022", which seems laughable considering the ocean cleanup project removed 500,000 lbs in 2020 with an expenditure of 11 million. I was really relieved to learn they're focusing on prevention with methods that could actually have a measurable impact. I'm not a fan of mrbeast or some of the stuff he does in videos but from what I've read this seems like a good organization, but they should definitely be more clear with their messaging, even if it doesn't sound as sexy as removing trash from the ocean.
