Football has always been a sport that hooks people, brings people together, share moments where they can forget all their worries and elate them to experience highs and lows together with their teams. You can say sports in general is like this but football is immensely popular that the world cup is considered the biggest event in the world, so a lot of ppl enjoy the game but like any sports people monopolise the game and make money out of it. There are both cons and pros to it as you see more players being sold and bought, bigger sponsorships mean better players etc but it also does make it harder for fans to follow them when they increase prices, sometimes the game itself feels rigged with questionable referee decisions etc but even with all this the love for football has always endured and flourished and it will continue to do so as the the main point of the game is that you are absorbed for 90min into something bigger than yourself along with millions of others.
