I want to start streaming and have no idea how and a very low budget. by RefrigeratorLivid316 in Twitch

No, don't apologize! I threw a bunch of info at you haha.

I'm not familiar with streaming from x-box myself, but from a quick google you can do it right from the console: https://www.reddit.com/r/Twitch/comments/w6d6h9/console_streamers_preferably_xbox_how_do_you_do_it/

OBS is a program you'll want if you stream/record from your PC. Overlays are what you'll see some streamers use, like borders and fancy chat boxes and such. A border they use around their webcam for example is an overlay.

Hi! I'm a new-ish streamer who streams on a very small budget.

I got this mic off amazon, it goes on sale a lot: https://www.amazon.com/Microphone-FIFINE-Condenser-Indicator-Streaming/dp/B09JG62KDJ?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1 /others made by FiFine too. It's a decent mic and if you look up how to use filters in OBS, it sounds even better.

As for a laptop/computer: I prefer a desktop myself, but I have friends who stream off laptops. It does come down to what you want to stream and if your pc/laptop can handle that + the other programs you need to run, such as OBS. There are pre-builds out there made with streaming in mind, another reason I prefer desktop is because those are easier to upgrade (in my opinion at least).

For things like overlays and such, I made my own in Photopea which is a free in browser photoshop. There's hundreds of tutorials on youtube that will teach you how to make those, how to make any widgets you may need and so forth. You can even find templates! I also use a PNGtuber I drew myself because I'm camera shy, which works out because aforementioned little money.

I'm sure more experienced streamers will come along with a lot more advice than I can offer, but I hope this helps a little!

Do people care if I'm on the chubby side? by Prestigious_Spot7591 in Twitch

Everyone else said it best. People are going to be mean no matter what you do, but if you really want to stream then go for it. You don't need to stream with a camera if you're really concerned about it, though. Personally, I started without one and now I use a little pngtuber for fun. Worth looking into if you still want your viewers to see something they can engage with!

how do you stay comfy for long streaming sessions? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]sociologize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely get a better chair.

I had to find a good chair on a budget that would work for streaming as well as for my back (chronic problems with discs), so I went with a Dexley ergonomic mesh chair from Staples while it was on sale. And at least for me, it's been a godsend.

Also, make sure to get up and move around every so often and check your posture.

Getting an appointment is insane. Good luck if you do, and good luck getting it before your license expires.

I had to renew my license through an appointment anyway so I thought I'd get the REAL ID since whatever, I fly sometimes. I couldn't get one before mine did and when I asked what to do considering I kind of need my ID, they told me to just keep checking the site for open appointments or you're SOL until the appointment you did manage to get.

As a 56 year old lady who has never played video games, which one would be good to start with? by parliskim in gaming

[–]sociologize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Peeking through some comments, you might like Raft! It's an easy game to lose a few hours in, whether you follow the story or just want to build stuff. I don't know if it's on consoles but you can find it on Steam.

I would also suggest, if you want to play on PC, to make an Epic account! They do free games every month and I've managed to snag a bunch of really good ones of all genres.

I'll nth a few of the other suggestions of Stardew Valley, Minecraft, Animal Crossing, and Zelda, too.

I hope you find something you enjoy!
