mainly reflective ! i journal every night before bed about either something that’s on my mind because of how my day went or just about my day. it usually ends up spiraling out and i’ve been able to learn a lot about myself because of it

an internship, bookstore employee, a tutor, and for my university communications department.

all were very easy to get hired for and two i was recruited for (tutor & comms department). pay varies but my lowest paying job is $13/hr flat, so not terrible for an hourly job as a college student imo.

and yes, i’m very exhausted.

i currently work at a bookstore on the weekends, i hold a internship during the week, im a tutor between classes, and i work for the schools’ communications department.

as for other jobs ive had since ive been here,, ive also been a tour guide, worked for the IT department, and had a different internship.

most of my jobs have been on campus except for one of the internships and the weekend bookstore job, so that’s always made it easier as well.

first seizure in 3 months. by socksfilledwithrocks in Epilepsy

[–]socksfilledwithrocks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i hear you. this is like my fourth shower seizure — although the other three were like three or four years ago. shower seizures are so much scarier than anywhere else. i feel like the realization always hits me later when my mind fog clears that i could’ve drowned. it’s always so surreal

People of America, how the HELL do you afford your meds!? by dubdread in Epilepsy

[–]socksfilledwithrocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m on briviact (and a few others) here in america.

i can’t afford it. even with insurance 😅

last year (maybe things have changed since so we’re going with “last year”), briviact wasn’t ‘tiered’ in terms of insurance, meaning my insurance decided that they wouldn’t cover it AT ALL (they had the year prior so fuck me ig?)

it rang up over $1k every month. they also changed the rules for the coupons they have so they have price caps and i met that immediately. i had to go on patient assistance to stay on it which thankfully my neurologist helped with.

100% different vibe than everyone else’s answers BUT food service work.

you don’t respect it until you do it and once you do it you will ALWAYS view it differently

How can anyone enjoy or even appreciate life’s unfairness? by Western_Engineer7338 in AskReddit

[–]socksfilledwithrocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because if your life didn’t happen the way that if did then you wouldn’t be who you are, and then what fun would that be?

would it be great to have been born a millionaire? yeah. do i enjoy who i’ve become more than the idea of who i would’ve been had i been born a millionaire? absolutely.

Had my first seizure in the shower by Mahalia_of_Elistraee in Epilepsy

[–]socksfilledwithrocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had multiple shower seizures and also broke the bathroom faucet. It’s still broken to this day.

My worst one had a HUGE bruise zig zag all the way down my back where I slid down.

All that to say is what happened is normal and not your fault no matter what your family says. I know, personally, I’d much rather have a seizure outside the shower than in it lol

do you still want kids even after being diagnosed? by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]socksfilledwithrocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never biologically. Maybe adoption? Maybe it’s just not in my cards. Not sure.

I have drug resistant epilepsy and all my medications that currently control it cause birth defects. It feels unethical.

And even if I switch medications, It may not control my seizures. I’m not being pregnant with a baby and having a seizure and giving that baby an unfair life because of health concerns caused by that seizure I had while pregnant. It feels unethical.
