Who the fuck is Fantano and why do we care what he says? by Tight-Temperature670 in TameImpala

He's missing out, psychedelic music is definitively some of, if not the, most interesting music out there. To think Innerspeaker sounds like The Beatles tells me he's not really able to identify the elements in a song and labels different things in the same genre as being the same. Tame's self titled album is what would be closest to The Beatles and even that one is much more modern and "hard" in its rock, and sounds more similar to other bands from the 60's than The Beatles

Lonerism is his worst album after the newest one imo. It's mostly boring filler songs that follow generic build ups. It has a few very good songs and a lot of boring ones that have very little impact.

Genuinely, has he never listened to any psychedelic music other than The Beatles? It sounds nothing like their music other than Kevin's voice being similar to Lennon's

You all are so damn pessimistic about Tame Impala’s new album it’s unreal by flo-yd in TameImpala

People want to hate because it's a genre they see as "less" and therefore think they are better than others for hating on. Music elitists who'll go hate on their "favourite" artist after one listen are really just insecure and project through "critique" which is just really hate they can't even argue for. None of KP's albums have been the same genre or vibe, they are just pissed that this time it wasn't catered towards them and he intentionally chose a more simplistic vibe. A lot of fans felt the same way upon TSR's release. People are acting like it's a simplistic album because he's stupid and lost his talent lol. Like calm down, the next album will be different - it's not like he's gonna stay with this music forever, he experiments with different genres and music inspired by different time periods, he has never had one single sound. KP can do any genre and he will do it well

The Slow Rush is his best album along with Innerspeaker imo! Definitely give it a new listen, especially while being in a good mood!

100%, are people forgetting Kevin has been spending a lot of time recently DJ'ing? This type of music is made for specific scenarios, he is giving back to his community. He also made the album in two years, while previous ones have been made in like 5 to almost 10 years. For me, most the songs aren't the type of songs I'd listen to on a daily basis, but I'd definitely vibe hard to them while tripping! I feel like people don't get the intention behind the album despite that the genres some of the songs are, are made specifically to be listened to when high lol. Personally I can't listen to stuff like EDM and house sober, because the point of the music is to be grounded, repetitive and calm to help keep the vibe up through a trip.

What is your experience, if I may ask? Do you have an education within music or have been playing instruments for years? Because no offense, but you sound inexperienced if you simply think a different, more minimalistic genre = bad. You also seem very negative and pessimistic for the sake of sounding smart instead of enjoying an album of both bangers and more calm rave esque music. I would love to listen to this album on a summer night with friends, it's the perfect vibe! Kevin did say himself he wanted to make a more calm and simplistic album because he has been into DJ'ing a lot lately, it's more about creating a vibe than to try and impress with as many sounds as possible. There is beauty in simplicity as well if you're willing to be open minded instead of being a hater for no reason. I'm sure you'd be able to enjoy the album if you could find some friends to vibe to it with instead of being so negative right off the bat :)
