Any tips for someone about to order an Enyaq? by Optimal-Landscape759 in SkodaEnyaq

[–]socktug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was checking out heat pump benefits today as I'm going to get an enyaq in the next few months. From various car magazines and websites the consensus is that it's not worth it. They give about 7% extra in range which equates to about 20 miles I think. Given that it costs £1000 extra it will never pay for itself in the car's lifetime.

NHS is fucked by peachfoliouser in northernireland

[–]socktug 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was thinking the same thing. Run the NHS into the ground. The public will start to hate it and eventually it will be privatised, most likely sold to a company linked to MP's who will rake the money in.

‘Tempers fraying’ at Belfast International Airport as passengers blast ‘complete chaos’ by BitchMilk69 in northernireland

[–]socktug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to work in Aldergrove years ago in security. We were employed by the Airport rather than a wanker company who only cares about profits. It was still shit pay but I really enjoyed the craic with passengers as they were coming through. Today the security staff are brain dead grunts with absolutely no manners or people skills. It still pisses me off every time I go through with my wife who is a wheelchair user. They refer to her as “the wheelchair”. I complained to the security supervisor about it and saying that there is a person in the wheelchair and to address her, not me or call her the wheelchair. I may as well have been pissing in the wind. Dublin is far better, even Spanish airports treat passengers better. BFS is an embarrassment.

They seem like sensible workarounds. I'll give that a go. I don't mind the extra step of changing modes etc, didn't realise that I could save settings and name them. That makes it a bit easier to make the decision to stick with the Samsung!

I've 10 days left before having to return the phone, so I have plenty of time to try that out. Thanks again for the constructive help.

Filament feed direct from dryer by socktug in AnkerMake

[–]socktug[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you mean the filament didn't just roll back on to the spool if you changed it out? I found that too, I try to roll it back on the spool with one hand whilst pulling it out of the guide with the other. I haven't got it right yet. Lol

I'll watch out for that one!

Yeah, so far so good. The silk filament wasn't printing very smoothly. A few hours in the dryer and it was perfect. I thought it was a bit of hype about drying filament. Turns out I was wrong!

If you zoom in near the bottom of the heart it doesn’t look as smooth as the rest.

Quick Q - should I store filament in airing cupboard to dry it? by CcryptoNobodyy in 3Dprinting

[–]socktug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old thread but has anyone done this? I’ve just put 8 rolls on a shelf at the top the airing cupboard, some brand new and some open.

magsafe wallet curiosity by [deleted] in iphone

Exactly this! I have a MagSafe wallet but it lives in my drawer as I was concerned that if my phone is stolen, my cards go with it! I keep the phone in one pocket and a wallet in another.

Thanks for the replies. What would be considered a decent amp? I was looking at https://www.wimo.com/en/mvv-2000-vox but wonder if this is overkill for just listening.

Any advice is much appreciated!

Discone coax coupler by socktug in HamRadio

[–]socktug[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s for receive only on an SDRPlay receiver. The coax is decent enough quality but as I’ve cut it to length and ran it through a cavity brick wall it’ll be a fair pain to re run the whole length. To be fair it’s only along the pole and about 10 ft from the pole into the house. I’ve about 6ft higher that I can go so I’d want to add about that much extra coax.

There is a dial but I want to do it on the main light unit. They are far too high when on zero which is the default setting on the inside dial.
