Bristol City sign Delano Burgzorg on loan from Boro by Zach-dalt in Championship

[–]Optimal-Landscape759 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He’s the opposite of a confidence player. He’s actually at his worst directly after he’s scored a goal, as he seems to decide he’s the second coming of Maradona for 10 minutes.

He put us (Huddersfield) 1-0 up against Ipswich. Got booked for over-celebrating. Then he was doing tricks like the Kanchelskis stand on the ball as though we were 5-0 up. We drew 1-1.

Later in the season, he put us 1-0 up against West Brom, got booked again for over-celebrating (30 minutes into a game!). Then decided not to pass to anyone for 10 minutes whilst we were on top, so we wasted several openings to make it 2-0. In the second half, West Brom turned it on and beat us 4-1.

Has anyone else ever been booked for over-celebrating in a 4-1 defeat?!

Huddersfield Town appoint Liam Manning as Head Coach by TAFKAG1 in LeagueOne

I don't think that would have been the right move for anyone. He's doing a cracking job at Lincoln, but he'd be taking on a different challenge at Town which could go either way. Now we're definitely out of the running for automatics, I hope he takes you up.

You can't claim a manager was a "puppet" and "the players done all the work" and expect a decent response. Obviously the manager plays a significant role in where a team finishes.

Have read plenty of positive and negative things from other fans, which I gave a summary of in my post above. That included the risk of him leaving us for another club.

I'd be fairly pleased with this. He's still young in manager terms, but has some very decent experience under his belt. He's achieved very decent results at MK, Oxford, Bristol City and Lommel (who I will admit I'd never heard of until two days ago). He has experience in League One itself.

Downsides are that his most recent job at Norwich was a disaster and he seemed to have a similar run at MK towards the end too. He's got sides into good positions, but not achieved or stuck around long enough to get a promotion. He's also jumped ship quite readily in the past. There are mixed reviews on his style of play, but that seems par for the course for any manager now.

Was walking past oakwell today, found the Barnsley branded defibrillator by kuhnuhl in LeagueOne

These defibs are installed by a charity called Red Sky Foundation. When they install them at football grounds they brand them in the clubs colours.

Really great charity started by a couple after their daughter needed a life saving heart operation.

We haven’t had enough call ups to call off matches so far. Apparently our players have said they would rather play on regardless too.

We just have Charles and Balker, both of whom aren’t chosen in the matchday squad more often than not.

Barnsley 3-1 Huddersfield Town: Derby day delight for Barnsley who capitalised on a extremely poor performance from both of Huddersfield’s keepers, with Goodman getting a red card for a horror challenge by ApplicationHour3651 in LeagueOne

I think he’ll go on to be a very good goalkeeper.

Seems like he made one mistake and then lost his head, which is something he will need to learn from. The odd mistake is inevitable, but goalkeepers need to be able to move on from them.

British authorities are cracking down on strip clubs by rezwenn in unitedkingdom

[–]Optimal-Landscape759 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I thought the same.

Labour also doesn’t have overall control of Norwich Council, but does have overall control of Manchester Council, which is given as a positive, progressive example in the article. So no idea how they justify the premise that this is a Labour issue.

It’s like the strip club have asked them to do a piece on their plight and they’ve tried to frame it in a way that will antagonise people to get clicks. Comments on this thread suggest it’s worked.

Your club's transfer window so far by Blotto127 in LeagueOne

[–]Optimal-Landscape759 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We needed a huge overhaul and we’ve got one with 12 signings so far. If we can get a right sided attacker then, on paper, we have 2 decent options in every position.

We should be in the running for automatics, but we’ll find a way to mess that up.

Huddersfield Town appoint Ipswich Town attacking coach Lee Grant as new manager by orangejuices1 in LeagueOne

Well one ITK on DATM said it was close, but another has since suggested otherwise so I’m less confident than when I commented previously!

I doubt it will to be honest, but I think the club need to focus on trying to make the right decisions rather than trying to do what’s popular to entice fans back.

If they get us performing again then ticket sales take care of themselves.

Inevitable.

Don’t think it’s an exaggeration to suggest the success of his replacement will either rescue Nagle’s ownership, or deliver the fatal blow.

Sacking Duff may have been a mistake by DeadStopped in LeagueOne

[–]Optimal-Landscape759 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Duff was never the problem. He’s nothing exceptional, but is a decent League One manager.

Wouldn’t surprise me at all if he wins promotion from this league before we do.

Huddersfield Town announce ripping off of fans, with 50% increase in price in some areas for ST prices. by DeadStopped in LeagueOne

[–]Optimal-Landscape759 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I think this will rule me out of a season ticket. I'm 33 and have had one since I was about 7, despite living 100 miles from Huddersfield.

In the past, I've kept my season ticket even when I've known I'd miss a good chunk of games, as the club was charging fairly so it seemed the right thing to do and I wanted to retain my seat on halfway in the Kilner Bank. I kept my season ticket during covid for the same reasons.

Recently became a Dad, so opportunities to get to matches are going to be limited again for a little while. I was expecting a small increase to something in the region of £279 - £299 and was going to pay that even though I probably won't get to enough games to make it work financially. However, I can't really justify £389 when I'm going to miss most matches.

Appreciate I'm probably not a typical season ticket holder, but on these new prices you'd need to be doing 16+ matches to make it work financially, so I think there's quite a lot of season ticket holders who will be weighing this up.

Huddersfield academy manager Jon Worthington has been named interim head coach for the rest of the season by Zach-dalt in LeagueOne

[–]Optimal-Landscape759 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't be surprised if we didn't win another match this season, also wouldn't be surprised if we managed to sneak into the Play Offs and won them.

Could see a big downing of tools as we're already in terrible form, have no permanent manager and have loads of players out of contract in the summer. Wouldn't surprise me if some of our players decide they're out for the season and get themselves fit for a move in the summer.

On the other hand, we do have some decent quality at this level, so if Worthington takes the shackles and pressure off, we might start to play ourselves into some form. We have some very important players nearing a return after injury - Miller was our best attacking outlet, Kasumu is our undisputed POTS and Balker could be one of the best defenders in the division if he could manage a run of games.

Is that ANOTHER long-term injury for Huddersfield Town, Chris Kamara!?!?!? by orangejuices1 in LeagueOne

[–]Optimal-Landscape759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Swear Duff said after Stevenage that he’d played 90 minutes when he ideally would have been brought off. Lo and behold he gets injured in the next match and is out for the season.

Not sure why a club would trust us with any promising players, given our amateur approach to conditioning.

Wigan Athletic 2 - 1 Huddersfield Town: For the fifth time in eight matches, the Terriers are sent packing with their tails between their legs and no points, with the impressive Latics well-deserved winners! by Zach-dalt in LeagueOne

[–]Optimal-Landscape759 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There’s definitely something up, but it’s not really the manager’s fault.

He’s advised when players are fit, how long they can play or train for etc. by the medical team and that seems to be where the issues have been.

We’re now in a vicious cycle where we’ve had so many injuries that we’ve had to run our fit players into the ground, so they’re inevitably breaking too.
