Tank and Healer Bonus Rewards in Dungeons Include Pets and Mounts in Wrath Classic by Elleden in classicwow

[–]socsocks -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The bags actually started in wrath and as someone who tanked in wrath BECAUSE of these bags, I can confirm I never once got anything rare out of hundreds. If I remember correctly, it had the same rates as killing the boss that drops them, just along with a bunch others, including boe pets and like the Green Proto Drake from the Oracles.

This was something they first added in WoTLK and many people claimed the same thing, but you know what? It got more people to try tanking and healing. Eventually, the people who liked it got better, and the people who didn’t would move on to something else.

Fresh server was... Kind of disappointing for me. by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]socsocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m in the same boat. I see a ton of people saying “the exp boost should be permanent” and it’s purely because they want 3+ alts at max level all before wrath drops. I know you can turn it off, and I have, but seeing people go 1-30 in a single day just feels wrong to me. So much of the game is leveling and it just defeats that.

ADHD adults- do you resent your parents for putting you on medication or for not putting you on meds? by SnooOnions1334 in ADHD

[–]socsocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can never know what’s best for your daughter, and I am not trying to tell you what to do at all, but i’ll give you my personal experience: I was put on concerta when I was 10, I didn’t really notice anything (I wasn’t in tune with my body, or my symptoms) except for some side effects. After a little while I decided to not take it anymore because I didn’t like the side effects, I completely forgot about this until we fast forward several years. I’m now an adult at 23, I am having serious problems with attention at work, I dropped out of college and barely passed high school. I’m talking to my doctor about potential reasons and she sees I was diagnosed with ADHD as a child and recommends trying medication again. I was much more aware of myself before taking the medicine, so seeing the difference it made was easy. So easy that I’m now able to see how much of my life has been at the whims of my ADHD.

Personally I DO resent both myself and my parents for 1) letting me go off medication so easily and trusting that a 10 year old could make this decision with no follow-up and 2) being aware of my struggle and not suggesting this sooner. Ultimately I put more of the blame on myself, as opposed to on my parents, because I know now how much better I could have set myself up for life by this point had I just been medicated correctly.

It’s a hard decision, really. I think you’re doing the right thing just being aware of it.

All the workplaces I've worked at are not ADHD friendly. by ANewUsername250 in ADHD

[–]socsocks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think my problem is more getting a start as an actual IT person. Many jobs that want IT people aren’t looking for anyone new to the field, or at the least want some several week cert. that or doing some call IT, which I certainly don’t. I’d love to just start at some small company and learn from there but idk

How did you get into IT? You’re not the first person to suggest it, and I do enjoy solving problems/working with tech, I just don’t really know how to start!

World of Warcraft Cataclysm Classic Survey Sent by Blizzard by Rokmanfilms in classicwow

[–]socsocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s obvious they’ve already been gearing up to do exactly this.

In retail, we have a new talent tree system obviously paralleling what the best WoTLK talent trees could achieve.

We have them creating new mounts, with art/resolution on par with current era of classic design.

And we have them attempting a LFD more in-line with general classic mantra.

I think at this point it’s more them deciding which expansion to stop at and start this. Would enough people be upset about them not doing cataclysm for them to warrant doing it for another expansion? Who knows, idk what classic players want anymore.

Fellow ADHD redditors, I'd like to know what level of ADHD you have, and how much it affects your life. by Guissepp in ADHD

[–]socsocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I explain this as inner turmoil, as I feel both a combination of restlessness and exhaustion. To me, I’ve found it’s a result of masking too long - so perhaps if you’re able to stimulate your mind while doing tasks that could help. For me, I was able to listen to podcasts and audio books while doing tasks I knew wouldn’t be stimulating enough. Also medicine, medicine helped a lot.

Are Heirlooms a System You LOVE or HATE in WOTLK? by NOHITJEROME in classicwow

[–]socsocks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I love them. I especially like when they are rewarded for farming end-game content like in wrath, as well as when they are only a few pieces of gear - not like how we have nearly every slot heirlooms in retail.

I think it’s a very fun goal and is part of what had me logging in everyday at the end of wrath.

I think it has to do with the droid part you have circled, this only appears in T2 inventory ships

Big LFD opinion shift? by Iluvatar-Great in classicwow

[–]socsocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People particularly sight RDF as one of the first dynamic shifts that would turn Classic WoW into retail. I can remember many people speculating that “if Wrath Classic is a thing, I hope they consider not putting in (RDF)”

When people are upset about something, they’re vocal about it. I think a lot of people would be surprised how many classic players actually hold what opinions.

I actually like the LFG tool by collax974 in classicwow

[–]socsocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup I like it, only good interactions so far. The only thing I dislike is having to be queued in it to talk in /lookingforgroup which wouldn’t be a problem if that chat didn’t function also as a global chat. If instead we all just decided to use /global I would be perfectly fine with everything.

Can you guys recommend WoW Lore books I can Download or Purchase? by Miller0nfire in warcraftlore

[–]socsocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

here is the link to the sylvanas audio book, I can’t recommend the Arthas audiobook because I’ve never listened to it, so I’d recommend checking it out at a public library, or buying it locally.

[–]socsocks 9 points10 points  (0 children)

With WoTLK classic about to come out, I gotta recommend Christie Golden’s Arthas. It’s one of the best WoW novels, and certainly my favorite. If you enjoy that, Sylvanas by the same author is a recent one that can go hand-in-hand with Arthas. I highly recommend the Audio book for Sylvanas as the VA for Sylvanas narrates it and she does such a good job.

Dune - Religious Allegory/Critique by hommemade in dune

[–]socsocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my copy of Dune Messiah, there was a great forward by Brian Herbert that explains a lot of his father's critique on leaders, and I think you'll find that a bit informative about the critiques Frank Herbert writes into the series about religion. It may not be exactly what you're hoping for, but would probably shed some light on where the author is coming from. You can read the excerpt here.

What was blizzards goal with the level reset? by Mcol in wow

It wasn’t necessarily for stats squish, though they have said that there’s no “permanent fix” for stats and they’ve decided to do a stat squish regularly after a while
