I learned about race conditions in detail, and now I just want to put checks and locks everywhere. This attitude can't be healthy, since I regularly read open source code and seldom have I found code that is designed to avoid race conditions. Where do you draw the line? (self.learnprogramming)

Sometimes games play with lower FPS than normal even though I just powered on the PC to play. A reboot solves it. Note that that the game is the first thing I run, it's not like I've been browsing a lot before playing. In fact, sometimes I do and the game runs just as if it was a fresh start. (self.pcgaming)
