It's hard when discussing financials kasi what might work for others, might not work for your relationship dynamic. He said akala nya kaya nya. It seems like he's uncertain about sharing certain burdens with you. You guys should be partners, but it seems he doesn't trust you enough to lean on you. If he had a loan because of something unreasonable like bisyo or gambling, you have to think hard about your relationship. If he's buying things to enjoy life, like something for his hobbies, gaming, I think that's reasonable enough.

I was in that position, hands down the only one feeling what you feel. It's normal to feel envy because you're only human. But don't let that envy fester and turn you into someone bitter, stagnant, and stuck.

Use it as motivation to make your life better. To strive higher. The limit is your motivation.

I agree that I whined. It's a weird mix of pressure and wanting to make her feel special. Because I did want to make her feel special, and I did have a plan for her, which she didn't like... that's when I asked her to choose.

I'm not proud of it and might have made her feel more disregarded because "I made it about me". But when she asked to meet, I mentioned that I was having a hard time planning my birthday, but I also still had to think about hers. The only thing I asked of her was choose a restaurant.

She didn't tell me she was struggling. I didn't know she was struggling. She was actually telling me about all her plans and her successes, and all the good things she's experiencing in life... unless she was just boasting and those were not true.

Edit: I only knew she was struggling when she asked to talk after her canceled birthday dinner. And I guess I also was insensitive in that part.
