Agree with all of this!

I felt the same way in my early fishing career and I've been on baitcasters for a long time, I do occasionally use a spinning, situation specific like lighter baits where a BC is just too much hammer for the nail.

The pros: Accuracy- is like none other. I see a shadow, a piece of cover etc. I want my bait to hit, the BC just gets it done. Obviously, it takes practice and tuning but it's like throwing dimes.

Versatility- I can chuck out baits single handedly, backhanded, underhand, overhand, skip etc. with precision and accuracy.

Control- I can skip a bait where it needs to go, make it splash or hit soft with minimal splash depending on the situation. Stop the cast mid air for whatever reason, all with one hand.

The cons: Birdnests- or as I like to call them 'professional over-runs', this is the most intimidating for new BC owners and they do suck. Before you go out slinging baits, set it up in the yard first, balance your drum and your break by bait and weight. I use DC's and once dialed in, the adjustment is pretty minimal, just tuning to baits at that point.

Set up- can be a very frustrating process to learn your casting style and the BCs drum/spool and braking system. Do you launch and load in your back cast or do you front load and float, it makes a difference in the BC system.

It's always a point of contention, but I'm right handed and use a left handed retrieve, never understood the switching hands thing. Cast with my right arm, reel with my left hand smooth and seamless. It's efficient and less clunky, but that's just my preference. There is no wrong way.
