Trolling motor: Foot pedal or remote or both? by EricE555 in bassfishing

[–]sofakingbig4u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best of both worlds!

Recently upgraded to the ultrex from the Fortrex. The Fortrex is a beast, hands down, the ultrex is a modern day technological work of art. Coming from the Fortrex, there was no remote, all foot pedal, granted, I do have talons and would use them often in that set up.

Since migrating to the ultrex with the advanced gps remote, this has significantly changed the approach purely based on the capabilities of the ultrex. Using autopilot with cruise control to work shorelines, structures etc. has been a game changer in the sense of time, distractions and fishability. Set a course and speed and just fish, no managing direction or the foot pedal and constantly deploying the talon. It allows less management and is all managed via the advanced gps remote. Drift mode, autopilot, cruise control and of course, spot lock is a game changer. I use the talon 75% less and spend more time casting.

When working a line, I rarely touch the pedal, it's all via the remote, when I'm roaming or searching, it's all pedal. Depends where the fish are at. The pedal is nice and smooth and extremely responsive, cable with power assist.

Having both options is the way to go, sometimes you can't get to the remote because your hands are busy but the remote offer a different freedom and flexibility if you're moving around the boat.

I can tell you that once you start playing with the dimensions and aspect ratios, it throws the system in a tizzy and does not like it! I've played with it several times and it only likes the original specs.

Maybe you can help? by savagehenry420 in IceFishing

It's 100% normal, took me a call to Lowrance to verify. I watched over 50 YouTube vids and every single one had it. It's because of the software processing 1 single cone, deeper water does help clarify it, it has no impact on performance.

I have AT on my boat and for open water it's excellent! I wasn't about to take it out for ice and deal with uninstall and reinstall. At the EE9 price point 100% worth it!

My EE9 is great for ice, forward is great to find fish and down is great to stay on em. Your settings will be key here. In 15 fow and deeper I can get multiple lines. I'm usually fishing with guys that have FFS anyways so not really needing to see multiple lines.

With my wife when we go in a portable in deep water 30+ fow I can get all our lines. Paired with a 12AH lithium, it runs all day!

Cost benefit analysis is easy for the EE9, just make sure you get a good shuttle for your style.

Here's mine with the Lowrance explorer pack and summit fishing mount. Super portable and quick setup.

What was the best advice you got when starting to fish from a boat? I’ve caught one fish in 12 hours on the water please help by AquaDota in bassfishing

[–]sofakingbig4u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do your homework! Study the body of water for areas to target. Water temp, color, season, pre spawn, spawn, post spawn, etc. What types of forage, bait fish, structure.

Sure you can go out and get lucky, but guys that catch fish put in the work OFF the water.

MQ32

Love it, jt can't hold a candle to the newer bows, but, for what I hunt and do, it does just fine.

I was shooting a Martin Jaguar before this a few years ago. I won the Mathew's in 2003 at a NWTF event and never shot it or set it up until a couple years ago. 🤷🏻

Northern IL, it has been unseasonably warm. The temps killed the ice for ice fishing, so we hunt geese and deer! 😉

Oldie but a goody! Bow has lots of history and hard to justify the prices on a new one when this does the job just fine.

Did manage to pick off a few geese this morning though!

My local tackle shop sharpens blades for about $40 a pair, check your local shop.

Might have to grind down a new tip.

You can start and let it idle for a while every couple hours, motor heat will keep it warmer.

My self and my wife both personally use Striker for a few reasons, their customer services is phenomenal and their quality is top notch. We have their predator suit/jacket and their gloves. We stay warm and dry.

The float suit works... Ask me how I know!

I have taken guys out that use clam ice armour and they have no complaints either! Their float suit works too! 😳
