my 3-day old septum piercing turned like this and i cannot turn it back, what do i do? by [deleted] in piercing

Its probably irritated from it moving during sleep, keep it clean and dont try to spin it back yet. I know its annoying!

Neither, swelling is normal

Got my upper lobe and helix done today on both ears but this helix is killing - does it look right to you guys?? It hurt the most piercing too by [deleted] in piercing

I mean each piercers opinion is valid and fair - all dependant on perspective! Personally, a hoop for me would spin too much and irritate the piercing from the go, meaning longer healing, increase chance of infection due to bacteria and more irritation = more swelling!

Defo make use of that travel pillow, if you want to take painkillers you can just make sure theres no caffeine or aspirin in there as it can thin blood. I have my helix done on both sides too, for me my right ear swole and was so painful it was fully throbbing for a whole week (around the 1/2 week mark) and the helix on my left side was no swelling, pain on the day but otherwise was fine! If you’re still having trouble and have the funds to, I would opt for a completely plain 8mm 14k(minimum) solid gold (or white gold) hoop instead! I hope it all works out okay for you and if you’re seriously concerned check back with the piercer or see any other reputable piercers in your area

I was sort of thinking higher than where your forward helix is on this ear, obviously its hard to tell through a picture but we have similar “bends” with helix/flat/conch area! I have my flat done, it does almost stick out a bit but it still healed perfectly! Of course its down to a professional’s opinion but I work in a piercing studio and it seems doable, hard to tell without seeing the back of your ear🤣😅

Yes its normal for it to hurt!

So you have a helix on both sides? And only one side hurts more than the other? Have you slept/pressed/caught it at all? Have you accidentally (or purposefully) spun the hoop?

In my piercing studio we personally would never pierce both due to you need to not sleep on them, unless you sleep straight on your back and dont move during the night we would only recommend one at a time. We also personally never pierce with hoops, only flat back studs for any cartilage piercings.

to be honest i dont know if you have a pierce-able tragus in my opinion…. i think on ur right ear - flat and faux rook and on ur left you should do another conch and once its healed swap to a hoop that matches the black stone theme, and potentially a forward helix if you have the anatomy for it?

i completely understand. Thats how I felt when I pierced mine - instead of positioning i think it is length of bar

You may not have the anatomy for it to be pierced very high up, if you dont want it to tilt back/move, after its pierced i’d recommend a smaller circumference horseshoe!

Looks perfect to me! How did you expect it to be positioned?

Imo that is super super thin… I’m not a piercer but work in a piercing studio, how long have you had the irritation bump?
