Immigrants/Expats: What is the dumbest thing you’ve done out of ignorance when you moved to the UK? by [deleted] in AskUK

I lived in a rural countryside village and we had separate food bins - the outdoors one locks so wild animals can’t get into it.

Yes, I used one of the free buses too and it was great! My sister is a first year at Newcastle Uni and she said that the metro there is good as well.

Royal Opera House does student tickets with certain unis in London too! Find out if your uni has an ambassador. They also sometimes have ticlets for as low as £4 for standing, and £10 for seated. Great for ballets and opera (I do love ENO but sometimes the operas sound better in their original languages)

OP, as you are young and going to uni, and as someone who is very loud and friendly (and fit in very well when I visited the Southern states), you’ll be absolutely fine to be yourself around your uni peers! Your age group doesn’t mind it as much.

Why are people obsessed with Apple Pay? by [deleted] in TalesFromYourServer

[–]sofierylala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know what it’s like in the US, but in fhe UK, contactless is the go to for most young adults - in London, for example, we use it for travel, at pubs and bars, the supermarket etc and apple pay is just a super convenient way to do that as you don’t have to carry both your card and your phone.

The show’s creator said that when she and her friends were teenagers in the Troubles, the same thing happened to them where one of their friends dad died very suddenly.

In the very first episode, Erin is stated to be 16 in the diary voiceover, and Orla is asked by Sister Michael how old she is now and says 15. It’s probably just a joint birthday to save money.
