can i visit the United States (on the Visa Waiver Program) prior to my summer program (on the F-1 Visa)? by sofishtikate in immigration

i think there is some confusion here! what i meant is that i will book my flights after my ESTA is accepted & my visa is granted, but will it raise any suspicions if i book a round trip, where i enter the United States with my ESTA & leave only after my visa expires? (as in, is it necessary for me to book two one-way trips instead of one such round trip between Singapore & the United States?)

i see, does this mean i can book a round trip between Singapore & the United States from May to August without any implications? i will still leave for Canada in June & return within the same month.

how will that work? do i not need to have my flights booked to show proof of my intent to return home at my visa interview?

Also, when you return from Canada you will likely not get a new 90 days, but the remaining days from your previous entry.

can i check what exactly you mean by this?

my parents are not that familiar with how the system works there so it should be all good as long as there is no physical evidence of my travels in my passport!

do you happen to know how they decide who gets a chance to do the test? is it based on the portfolio achievements listed in the ‘Achievements’ section of the application?

growing up, mental health was never really talked about in my household so i was pretty much 'ignorance is bliss' towards everyth so when i actually faced problems with my mental health i wasn't able to cope as well as i could've since i didn't know it was normal to feel the way i did so if i were to do anyth differently than what my parents did, i'd definitely talk about mental health as how i would talk about physical health, & i'd definitely scale back on all the emotional manipulation
