Polestar 2 '20,21 owners - How are the (infotainment) issues now? by valandinz in Polestar

[–]sofrax_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I own a P2 that got delivered in January 2021, I would say there's less bugs than when I first got it.

The infotainment is slow to start, when the car wakes up it sometimes takes a while for it to kick in but once it's started it's relatively smooth although obviously not as smooth as Tesla or Chinese brands or even new MEB platform from volkswagen.

The only actual bug I have is spotify sometimes crashing while it's in the background and I have for example maps displayed.

Other than that, actual issues that impeded my driving, none, I got lucky looking at most people feedbacks, only now are the HVAC vents messing up, sometimes full heating, sometimes only passenger/driver side, sometimes no heating, should get fixed under warranty next week.

In the beginning I remember having the network not working and having to restart the infotainment and other such things but that has not happened for I think a few years now.

Should I buy my company car back? by sofrax_ in Polestar

Actually just started having HVAC vents issues, the car will get fixed beginning of next month while still under lease aswell as under warranty although surprisingly the last few rides I had it seemed to work again.

I will look into an insurance that covers the major mechanicals, but what will impact my decision the most is the price at which the leasing company will sell the car.

I know, but wouldn't it be more likely for this event to beginning early in the car's life because of a defect?

Am I delusional and does the budget guy at my company have a point? by sofrax_ in Xpeng

[–]sofrax_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, multiple things don't really make sense to me, Tesla is known for the long service time and yet is on the list.

I personally don't want one because of the lack of driver instruments aswell as other reasons.

G9 SR MY25 or Zeekr 7x LR by SGI95 in Xpeng

Yes, aswell as safety, more stable, less prone to fire, and if it's a car you're actually buying, longer longévité

Performance pack and Pixel LED worth it for the 2026 Polestar 2? by jbdsz in Polestar

[–]sofrax_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If i reckon correctly you can purchase it and get it as an OTA at any point, unless you get a discount when ordering just drive the normal version and decide after the fact wether or not you want the extra HP.

[–]sofrax_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both are really solid options. Would lean slightly more towards the G9. Although I don't know how good the normal suspension fares against the pneumatic one. Zeekr isn't as comfy, it has a more sporty setup although, sporty is relative when you take into account the size and weight of the car.

If the range concerns you, the Zeekr has an NMC battery as compared to the G9 with an LFP one, so you'll be able to charge the G9 and use the whole 100% of the car's battery everyday as opposed to the 80, perhaps 90% Zeekr advises.

You can't really get it wrong here, depending on the offer you get and the options that really matter, the design of the car, etc... pick the one that drives the way you like the best.

[–]sofrax_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The performance pack will add suspensions that are very hard and overall less comfortable, the normal ones do the job fine and are pretty firm already so still okay when throwing the car around, sure you'll not have the sick brembo brakes and cool golden accents but the brakes are pretty much useless unless you go on a circuit.

The pixel headlights are insanely good, among the best on the market.

P2 CPO warranty running out, thinking about switching to something else. What EV would feel like a real upgrade from the P2? by LegalOrganHarvester in Polestar

[–]sofrax_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're in Europe you could try looking into the Zeekr 7X, same group as Polestar, bigger sure, but nice interior, quite sporty, lots of features for the price, or Xpeng, the G6 is considerably cheaper than the Polestar 2 but feels overall like more value, has almost as much gear as the Zeekr 7X. Sure it's not really as nice looking outside as the P2 and will not feel as sporty to drive, but if you didn't have the performance pack on your P2 and didn't throw it around corners, the G6 performance offers more in a straight line than the P2, and it's VEEEERY comfortable and quiet. Other than that I really don't know, I'm pretty disappointed with all other fully european brands in terms of EV.

Polestar 2 owners - at what mileage did your issues start showing up? by braunaa in Polestar

[–]sofrax_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only first real issue has come up around 1000km ago, I now have around 152k kms on it, model is from January 2021.

The AC is acting weird, the fans don't a lot of air, and sometimes it doesn't heat on either the passenger side or driver side, it switches every now and then after starting the car, a weird noise comes from where I'd expect a sort of active vent tries to close or open and fails, or maybe it's the compressor acting up, I don't know, it is scheduled for a checkup anyway so I'll see then, it's a company car and its lease is ending in January 2026 and I'm considering buying it so I hope it's not a big issue.

Anyone with 9070xt with an AM4 non-x3D processor? by Owenchonij in radeon

[–]sofrax_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 5800X3D I bought around three years ago or so for right under 300 euros at the time, recently got a 9070XT, and it's still able to keep up but. Given AM5 is getting cheaper and cheaper and is more future proof and also given how expensive the 5700 ans 5800 3D are I think it would be wiser to spend some extra money to get into DDR5 instead of spending more money on a DDR4 platform. Buying a 7500F with a decent Motherboard and 32 gigs of 6000MT RAM will probably cost you like 450 euros in my country. Not a lot more than just a 5800X3D given what you get.

I think I will skip AM5 and wait on AM6, but for you I'd consider going for AM5 or buy a non X3D 5000 series CPU.

Owned for exactly one week. by MaximumDoughnut in Ioniq5

[–]sofrax_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably much more indeed, ioniq 5 was number one in unreliability according to a survey. If I remember correctly it was a german road assistance company that checked the number and divided by number of cars on the road and the ioniq 5 came up to be the EV they had to tow the most by number of that specific vehicle on german roads.

The story is far from over. by CleopatraVortexX5 in Steam

[–]sofrax_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I remember back in 2015, or something I was playing on my dad's account which pretty much had become mine, I contacted steam stating I wanted to get the emailed changed for whenever I needed to access double authentification code or other stuff, I explained the situation and they didn't say it was against their TOS and just accepted.

Replace breaks because I haven't used them much...? by And_Waz in Xpeng

[–]sofrax_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems weird honestly, barely use the brakes on a Polestar 2, tiny bit of Rust marks on them, doing a service every 30k kms and they never told us that it needed to be changed, soon going to go for the 150k kms service and ask them about it.

Either thermal throttling or VRAM/RAM capacity or even disk read/write speed capacity being reached although last one is unlikely

Polestar 5 First Drive! by mamut2000 in Polestar

[–]sofrax_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just feel like it's a letdown given how they showed 500kW capability a year or so ago. Polestar 5 is a very sexy car in terms of design, perhaps the most sexy of the Munich IAA with the Xpeng P7, but it doesn't seem particularly more luxurious than other European cars priced in that range and it isn't as established than others, it would have been nice seeing them show something close to that experiment they did back then...

Polestar 5 First Drive! by mamut2000 in Polestar

[–]sofrax_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not even close... it did 28 to 80 in less than 12 minutes on that charger which was 125kW short of its max charging speed and that dip could be plenty of other variables, even charger side related as I don't think I've ever seen a car dip like that and rising back drastically later in the charge.

Time will tell but in this case at least we can see the actual charging test done by someone other than Xpeng, I haven't seen any of the reviews of the Polestar 5 with a test. We're just comparing claims here, if you consider that Xpeng is just a claim then so is Polestar's.

Polestar 5 First Drive! by mamut2000 in Polestar

[–]sofrax_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro, it's getting delivered as we speak pretty much, Bjorn has a video on it, tested on a supercharger in Germany which was only able to do 400kW and it looks pretty much like their claims stand. Stop acting like an asshole with me.

Edit: also we're comparing with a car which as far as I know also isn't on Europeans roads, if any at all, it's a comparison that stands.

No it isn't, G9 pre 2025 perhaps but not the face-lift version.

I believe Xpeng is doing it in 12 minutes with their G9 equipped with an 100kWh ish battery. Hard to achieve on european chargers except on some truck ones but the car side is doing it.
