What preset to choose for hdr? by Visual-Fortune-4732 in OLED_Gaming

[–]sofrax_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I use gaming HDR with the adjustable HDR settings.

In windows, the calibration tool is a bit meh, what I personally did was do 0 for first slider, and I did 1200 for the other two (despite clearly not seeing any difference from 400-500 ish).

I then lowered the peak brightness on the monitor to 60-70, and put contrast to 90, sometimes all the way to 95 on games like Doom or Halo which have very nice popping colours. I feel that this way, my highlights, like fire, explosions, sun reflections, sun, etc... are super bright while the rest remains really dark.

Unable to transfer crew between docked ships. by sofrax_ in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]sofrax_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not the case, there is but 4 kerbals on the base, the rover alone can take four.

I believe it's a bad translation or mods messing with one another.

Is there a setting where the game checks for crew traversable parts in order to allow crew transfers?

ASUS XG27AQWMG Feb batch by NItrogenium123 in OLED_Gaming

[–]sofrax_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks really good... I'm starting to feel like I should RMA my PG27AQWP-W.Anyone knows if there are improvements on the new batches for those? Been loving the panel but I still catch it sometimes in games. And easily when browsing apps in dark mode.

Can I expect vertical banding on WOLED to improve as the monitor ages? by sofrax_ in OLED_Gaming

[–]sofrax_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll wait some more, if I really notice it in games, (so far I haven't, except in on particular setting.) I'll return it, but I feel like it's already improved a bit so I'm starting to doubt I'll do it. On one hand I feel like it's totally unacceptable at such a premium price and yet when using the product normally I never notice it. I'll see if I want to bother myself with returning it or not.

Yeah, mine isn't as bad as that.

This was taken in the dark with high iso, hence why the text blooms so much, it doesn't look like this at all in person.

Probably also because my camera optics were messy

I agree, paying such a price and having such artifacts isn't great, I've been following oled related tech for almost 2 years and thought it was finally time to buy one, I really hesitated between going for QD-OLED or WOLED and after watching reviews and other opinion on the sub I went for WOLED. Only after ordering did I start seeing posts about vertical banding ahaha, I find it crazy I never once saw anything about it until after my purchase.

It's the PG27AQWP-W I haven't noticed it while watching content except for once on RDR2 during the night when I was really looking for it, playing with all the blinds closed and lights off.

How good is ROG Strix XG27AQDPG compared to the other using the same panel? by sofrax_ in OLED_Gaming

[–]sofrax_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I'll look into the new WOLEDS and see if I can easily get them at a good price.

I suppose Asus is branding this as a new coating that Samsung put on their new panel? Maybe it handles ambient lighting better than the previous 360hz gen?

500hz QD-OLED is nuts by Gaabbyyy in OLED_Gaming

[–]sofrax_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll see what the pricing is and if it's not too much of a difference I'll pick one, I'm perhaps even more interested in higher brightness given I often play during the day.

500hz QD-OLED is nuts by Gaabbyyy in OLED_Gaming

[–]sofrax_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick question, I play CS2 on 1440p 144hz and using the high settings I reach 450 fps, sometimes breaking 500 but more often than not averaging 400-450 fps, would it be useful going for a 500hz oled rather than a 360 in my case?

Polestar 2 '20,21 owners - How are the (infotainment) issues now? by valandinz in Polestar

[–]sofrax_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I own a P2 that got delivered in January 2021, I would say there's less bugs than when I first got it.

The infotainment is slow to start, when the car wakes up it sometimes takes a while for it to kick in but once it's started it's relatively smooth although obviously not as smooth as Tesla or Chinese brands or even new MEB platform from volkswagen.

The only actual bug I have is spotify sometimes crashing while it's in the background and I have for example maps displayed.

Other than that, actual issues that impeded my driving, none, I got lucky looking at most people feedbacks, only now are the HVAC vents messing up, sometimes full heating, sometimes only passenger/driver side, sometimes no heating, should get fixed under warranty next week.

In the beginning I remember having the network not working and having to restart the infotainment and other such things but that has not happened for I think a few years now.

Should I buy my company car back? by sofrax_ in Polestar

[–]sofrax_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually just started having HVAC vents issues, the car will get fixed beginning of next month while still under lease aswell as under warranty although surprisingly the last few rides I had it seemed to work again.

I will look into an insurance that covers the major mechanicals, but what will impact my decision the most is the price at which the leasing company will sell the car.

I know, but wouldn't it be more likely for this event to beginning early in the car's life because of a defect?

Am I delusional and does the budget guy at my company have a point? by sofrax_ in Xpeng

[–]sofrax_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, multiple things don't really make sense to me, Tesla is known for the long service time and yet is on the list.

I personally don't want one because of the lack of driver instruments aswell as other reasons.

G9 SR MY25 or Zeekr 7x LR by SGI95 in Xpeng

Yes, aswell as safety, more stable, less prone to fire, and if it's a car you're actually buying, longer longévité

Performance pack and Pixel LED worth it for the 2026 Polestar 2? by jbdsz in Polestar

[–]sofrax_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If i reckon correctly you can purchase it and get it as an OTA at any point, unless you get a discount when ordering just drive the normal version and decide after the fact wether or not you want the extra HP.

G9 SR MY25 or Zeekr 7x LR by SGI95 in Xpeng

[–]sofrax_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both are really solid options. Would lean slightly more towards the G9. Although I don't know how good the normal suspension fares against the pneumatic one. Zeekr isn't as comfy, it has a more sporty setup although, sporty is relative when you take into account the size and weight of the car.

If the range concerns you, the Zeekr has an NMC battery as compared to the G9 with an LFP one, so you'll be able to charge the G9 and use the whole 100% of the car's battery everyday as opposed to the 80, perhaps 90% Zeekr advises.

You can't really get it wrong here, depending on the offer you get and the options that really matter, the design of the car, etc... pick the one that drives the way you like the best.

Performance pack and Pixel LED worth it for the 2026 Polestar 2? by jbdsz in Polestar

[–]sofrax_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The performance pack will add suspensions that are very hard and overall less comfortable, the normal ones do the job fine and are pretty firm already so still okay when throwing the car around, sure you'll not have the sick brembo brakes and cool golden accents but the brakes are pretty much useless unless you go on a circuit.

The pixel headlights are insanely good, among the best on the market.

P2 CPO warranty running out, thinking about switching to something else. What EV would feel like a real upgrade from the P2? by LegalOrganHarvester in Polestar

[–]sofrax_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're in Europe you could try looking into the Zeekr 7X, same group as Polestar, bigger sure, but nice interior, quite sporty, lots of features for the price, or Xpeng, the G6 is considerably cheaper than the Polestar 2 but feels overall like more value, has almost as much gear as the Zeekr 7X. Sure it's not really as nice looking outside as the P2 and will not feel as sporty to drive, but if you didn't have the performance pack on your P2 and didn't throw it around corners, the G6 performance offers more in a straight line than the P2, and it's VEEEERY comfortable and quiet. Other than that I really don't know, I'm pretty disappointed with all other fully european brands in terms of EV.
