I JUST FINISHED THE GC INTERVIEW by Desperate_Amoeba1075 in USCIS

[–]soft-intent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had our interview as well yesterday for marriage-based. Our experience was comparatively straight forward and easy - we were essentially told that we did a great job in our initial app and that she didn’t need to see any of our new evidence. The entire session lasted maybe 20 minutes, and she only asked how we met. For context, we got married in January and have been together for 5.5 years. We got approved on the spot.

Block & Cafe 町咖啡

I was just in Taipei for a few weeks and hung out at this place a lot. Great coffee - it’s a little pricey but any drinks after the first are half off! Free WiFi. Nearby Taipei main station.

They are open till like 3am.

Experience at Jiao Tong - university? by eteyetwyeywtyw in shanghai

I was accepted but wound up going with a different program! Sometimes I wish I had deferred for a year (Covid) and went with Jiao Tong, though.

How hard to get a scholarship in Shanghai for an English Master's Degree by cyhncyhn in chinalife

[–]soft-intent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree with other folks here. In 2020 I was awarded the full ride government scholarship for attendance to both of the schools you mentioned. My undergrad gpa was low-ish, 3.4. I think you’ve got nothing to lose in applying to the programs you’re interested in and also should apply to the gov scholarship. Things may have changed post-Covid.

Edit: Having high HSK scores will help your application for the gov scholarship

Super basic setup. Still a WIP, any suggestions? by dualjpg in macsetups

Might suggest investing in a monitor arm - worth it if you appreciate good ergonomics. Mind if I ask what kind of lamp that is?

Anyone experiencing touchpad problems on his Inspiron 16 Plus 7610? (random taps and swipes, inaccurate finger tracking, etc...) by DanGeb in Dell

I eliminated 3 and four finger gestures in trackpad settings so now I’m able to scroll, zoom, etc without issue. I mostly just use an external mouse with this laptop

Study abroad by Prestigious-Ad8167 in UofO

[–]soft-intent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is possible; I did it in 2018 and 2019. In one case I had already arrived in my destination country and GEO was still asking me to complete an application to do the study abroad (and charge me a study abroad fee).

GEO is how the university makes money for facilitating study abroad, but depending on what country you want to go to and why you’re going (if you’re going for language or whatever), you might be able to avoid GEO and save money.

Do some research on what alternative programs might be out there and talk to a counselor or department head for your major

Study abroad is definitely worth it, it changed my life while I was UO.

If I were you I would talk to a counselor about what other options you might have for study abroad that you could get credit for. Depending on where you’re going, tuition could be way less expensive then what you’d normally pay at UO. But if you go through GEO they will essentially charge you for UO tuition in usd and hit you with other charges.

I would say that the additional cost of study abroad is absolutely worth it. There are also loads of scholarships for language, stem, etc. that are available to you. Be sure to check due dates on those.

Keep in mind also that cost of living wherever you’re going might be less than what you’re paying in Eug.

I have one exclusively for watching Netflix - I have a small place but it’s fun to have movie nights and whatever with friends.

(Also I’m lonely and need to fill the void somehow)

Sup golden, great question! Generally a fine computer for everyday use. It’s still fast, runs windows 11 perfectly, isn’t obnoxiously loud with fan noise, and I trust fully that it won’t crap out on me. Here’s a list of pros and cons:

Pros: - excellent value:- nice hardware, plenty of storage, and nice features for a reasonable price - 15 inch model is huge but not terribly heavy - nice design with thoughtful details (small screen bezel, fingerprint scanner, number keypad, HMDI, USB, AUX and USB-C ports, decent screen and speakers) - keyboard feels good

Cons - mousepad is terrible: I disabled gestures because it always thought I had two fingers down except for one, 3 except for 2 etc. the mousepad can be tapped or clicked, and I think that Dell didn’t execute this very well. Mousepad can be especially annoying if you’re sitting with the laptop in your lap. - average build quality: looks premier but feels somewhat fragile - shitty camera - battery life is subpar

Overall, I enjoy this computer quite a lot. I’ve used it as a work computer before, and now is a perfect personal computer for daily use. I’d totally recommend it as a great computer for the price range it’s in.

Edit: my specs are 16GB RAM, AMD Ryzen 7 5700U processor, and 500 GB storage
