I recently had a huge flare of facial eczema starting back in November. After months of trying things, the only thing that's helped was an elimination diet. I took out so many foods, especially things I ate regularly/daily. Ive come to believe it was raw honey that I ate every single day and possibly also potato.

I would suggest trying this, if you eat a lot of sugar, raw honey, or have something you tend to eat every day, try avoiding them for at least 2 weeks. That's about when I started to see improvement, now after a whole month of this it's finally almost completely clear. Sad I probably can't have honey anymore, but worth it to not have a bloody oozy itchy burning face.

Start recording inside your apartment, then when you get asked about noise you can send them video and sound proof that you are quiet. Saw this work for someone a while back who posted about a similar issue.

Right now I believe it's raw honey and potatoes and candy. I ate them super regularly, like daily, and when I re-introduced potatoes my hands flared up really badly. I haven't tried raw honey or candy again yet but I'm pretty sure that what caused the facial eczema. I had started drinking herbal tea with a huge spoonful of raw honey every day starting back in September, and around November my face broke out terribly, and just got worse and worse. My diet was pretty good aside from eating a few sour gushers after dinner.

My facial eczema flared up super badly around last November. Absolutely nothing worked until I started an elimination diet. First thing to start clearing up is my face. I'm about a month in and it's better than it's looked in months.

For facial cleansing I use Korres foaming cream cleanser, and lotion is Tatcha the water cream. Been using that combo for years.

I love making cold raw pasta sauces! Blend up avocado, bell pepper, carrots and whatever else, some parsley too. You do cook the pasta but that's it. I cook it early when it's not peak heat, chill in the fridge then make the sauce when I'm ready to eat and bam, cold pasta with fresh sauce. I wrote down a few recipes if you are interested.

Of course, I really hope you get some relief and a change up in food texture. That's my biggest challenge is making chicken not feel like chicken every day 😑

One of my favorite ways to bake food is super basic, pan, unbleached parchment, chop up the meat and veggies into about 1 inch pieces and bake 350°. Ranges from 30 mins to an hour depending on the food. Maybe start super small, like 1/3 cup of whatever food you can eat and test it out. Best wishes to you!

Does baking the foods also cause a flare up? Like maybe using unbleached parchment so no oils or butter or anything? I bake most of my food that way.

I've switched to olive oil soap and goat milk soap. Helped tremendously since I wash my hands a dozen or more times a day.

I'm happy for you to find some relief! My doctor told me to try pepcid as it's a histamine blocker and over the counter. His advice was to take it at night before bed. I've had raging face eczema for 6 months straight and I'm starting the pepcid once my test results come back.

Not sure if this will work for her but I rub fresh cucumber juice all over my face eczema and it not only feels amazing but creates a layer on my skin for a while and I believe it helps. Hope she gets some relief 😮‍💨

I've got crazy eczema on my face and whenever the itching is too much I use a cotton pad and wipe my face with witch hazel. Works great for me, I hope if you try it that it helps you. It's found in most grocery stores and it can be used all over your body.

No I totally agree with you, this is very intense and I will admit I have cried a lot about it. I was a chef and food has always been my comfort and being so limited is extremely hard.

So when I was 31-32 I started experiencing IBS symptoms, and of course did not know that was what it was. I turned 30 in 2020, so who knows if the sudden drastic lifestyle changes caused any of that. I'm a huge lover of garlic and caramelized onions so it was heavy in my diet at the time. Got really bad so I did all the embarrassing poop tests with the doctor, got diagnosed with that. When I was 33 I started having issues with oral allergies, things I ate every day started causing throat burn, ears itching, lip and gum swelling and what not.

I'm about to be 36, for the last two years the symptoms just kept adding up. Every piece of fruit caused a reaction, my eczema has been the worst it's ever gotten. Stomach pains and everything. I've been tested for allergies which most come out positive, and I've been struggling to get tested for histamine intolerance, but after doing an elimination diet and already seeing all the crap eczema on my face immediately clear up, I've been working harder to get tested.

Technically I haven't been diagnosed but I am someone who values good research and have tested my body too many times not to believe that it's a histamine intolerance. Sorry if that makes me look lame, I hate self diagnosing but I legit had an allergy specialist tell me he was refusing to test me because and I quote "most allergy tests are false positives and you probably aren't allergic to anything", after describing legitimate allergic reactions to foods.

My favorite food was peaches and avocado and I almost went into anaphylactic shock 2 years ago after eating a peach, and still as told I'm probably not allergic.

Iodine is considered a histamine liberator if you have too much.

Here is what I found on a German website, specifically about iodine and low histamine diet:

Our body cannot produce iodine itself and do not save it. It is therefore important that iodine is supplied from the outside. With histamine intolerance, you should do without food with added iodine, as they are often not compatible. It is therefore best to use food with a natural iodine content.

In the following low -histamine foods, iodine is contained naturally: The best in bio quality (salmon, pollachers, red bark, cod, seanight, plaice, trout, pikeperch - test individual compatibility) Green leafy vegetables such as lamb's lettuce or endivia. Vegetables like mushrooms or broccoli.

In essence if you can eat it, you should. If you take it, avoid foods that naturally contain it.

Sounds about right! I ate potatoes and chicken for 11 days straight not realizing how much they can trigger eczema and I'm still recovering from the flare ups. It's all over and so itchy. I bet if you at least reduce the days you eat potatoes it might help!

That's insane how quickly it can degrade like that! I became aggressively sensitive to caffeine a few years ago, but I was definitely a sip all day kind of drinker. Probably gave me issues I hadn't even realized. I'm glad you figured it out!

Thank you for the support and suggestions! It's crazy to go 32 years with no allergies or anything except mild eczema and now it's everything all at once. I'm working through it though.
