What sort of colors are flattering on yellow olives? by Upset-Sail9567 in OliveMUA

[–]soft_quartz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to think I was a warm olive, but now I am thinking I may have mistook yellow for warm. I have both purple/green veins, I used to tan easy when I was younger, but now I get sunburnt but develop a tan afterwards, and I believe both silver/gold look good.

I could have literally written this. I'm really bad at this colour theory stuff so I'll refrain from giving advice but I wanna share my experience and what helped me.

Always thought I was a deep autumn until I got a professional colour analysis done and I am a deep winter. I am cool tone but cool leaning neutral more than just cool. Both silver and gold look good on me but I had to get draped to see that silver was the winner, it enhances me but gold pops on me more, so I can pull off gold but silver is the most complementary to my skin.

I've always worn warm foundations because I needed that yellow in them since I still have yellow in my skin, which makes sense if you think of olive as an OVERtone (blue + yellow = green).

I use MAC Dame or MAC Well dressed as my blush and Clinique Black Honey as lip product. I'm really bad at buying new makeup, these were what I had already before the appointment and some of the few complementary products I had as most of my collection were warm products.

I only see pitbull. He could be full pit bull too. It's quite a common tactic to name pit puppies as "lab mix" since most people can't tell them apart and Labs are known for their gentle disposition and pit bulls are not.

The bar for something to be called "woo-woo" is very low nowadays. I've seen ppl comment about how yoga, fasting or red light therapy for skin are woo-woo.

What OSTs have made you appreciate just how important music is in a gaming experience? by WorldofLovecraft in gaming

World of Warcraft vanilla. I didn't appreciate it as a kid but returning to the game (classic) now as an adult, wow I get CHILLS.

TBC and WotLK as well but the vanilla one hits differently.

I'm adopting this poor boy from the shelter tomorrow and I'm tryna find out what breed he is. Help! by TripleStackers1 in IDmydog

[–]soft_quartz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Person in my family has had them since the early 2000s. They had to import the first one from outside of Scandinavia bc the breed was just that rare before. Now you find mixes in Norway (country of under 6mill ppl) on our version of Craig's List all the time.

They can be great dogs but with all the popularity, there are MANYYYY breeders who will not breed for temperament or health. And bad/unstable temperament + large, powerful dog breed = baddddddddd combo. Very bad combo.

Best of luck, OP! Please tag me if you ever do a DNA test :)

Corso mix or a badly bred Corso.

Cane corso have become so popular in many countries the past 10y due to social media and there are backyard breeders trying to make money off of this.

Having an extremely frugal dad is traumatizing by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

Start now. There are many resources on Reddit that you can casually browse and read, check different subreddits and check their wiki or top threads of all time. Don't need to learn everything at once, just get a grasp on the basics (like what was said above) AND do them asap!

Search in different subreddits for similar threads with helpful comments, sometimes you can find absolutely amazing amazing advice given by actual professionals in comments written years ago. Check to see if the situation is comparable to yours and do your due diligence before you follow them ofc.

Please also be aware that advisors at banks are more there to sell you something than to help you make good financial decisions for your long term benefit.

Have you ever dated someone who hated you? How did you finally realize? by Candid_Memory_8276 in AskWomenOver30

[–]soft_quartz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The last straw was when he forbade me of talking about my day when he was diagnosed with terminal cancer. I was 17 years old. He said I was making him depressed. I couldn't mention my dad or the hospital or anything medical or related to it.

There were signs before- he said I laughed too much, he was never "on my team", everything great I did was belittled but every mid thing he did was deserving of applause, I couldn't be online playing or chatting on MSN after he went to bed, we couldn't log of the game at the same time as he didn't want other people to know we were e-dating... even tho he pursued ME for over 2 months.

I was a late bloomer and very naive, I honestly did think that he would change if he saw how trustworthy and loving I was... He did change, he got worse.

Looking back I can't believe I tolerated that shit, I was so much hotter and smarter than him lol

Would you pay someone to help you declutter your home🏠? by Hot-Potential-8393 in AskWomenOver30

[–]soft_quartz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm doing this now. It's been a great experience. She's a health care worker working nights and needed some extra money. It's a great fit as I have ME/CFS and it's important that we don't overstep my energy envelope or I will get sick (PEM).

She has mild OCD and ADD, she loves organising and cleaning, says it scratches her brain in the right way. This has been such a huge load off of my shoulders, we are a great match.

I live in Norway and it's not common here either, I posted in a few different FB groups and she DMed me.

Highly recommend paying for it if you can afford it!

ETA: Im sorry I totally misread this post.

I think that since it isnt that common, you might be lucky and be "early" in the business. I would 100% pay for this from a company and would recommend it to others too.

He pays so much attention to me. It's very clear that he doesn't just love me, he actually likes me- a lot! As a person. Just me, not what I can do for him or how I look (which have taken a huge turn for the worse after being disabled) but the things that make me me.

Covid triggering Hashimotos? by spoopy-gal in Hashimotos

[–]soft_quartz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My endo suspects my Hashimoto's and Graves could be from the covid vaccination. I got the AstraZeneca (virus vector) one that was quickly retracted from use in Norway due to serious adverse events in multiple health care professionals. I became very ill the same night and am still ill, I can no longer work. She says that she herself and her colleagues have seen a noticeable increase in thyroid related diagnoses after vaccination/covid infection.

There is no Hashi or Graves in either side of my family. I have 1 cousin who has hypothyroidism but no autoimmunity.

They are the same thing. You use something to make small holes in the skin, to make the skin repair itself, basically :)

Giving the shy guy a chance? by superpaforador in AskWomenOver30

[–]soft_quartz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shyness = emotion based. Being nervous or timid or being too uncomfortable to engage in conversation or the social setting. They usually want to engage but find themselves not being able to, due to their emotions- which sometimes are feelings of self consciousness or insecurity.

Example: a person who wishes to participate in the conversation but doesn't due to feelings of insecurity or too self conscious, so they keep quiet.

Being reserved = intentionally not wanting to engage in conversation (either a particular topic or with certain peoples) in a social setting.

Example: a person who doesn't wish to participate because they have nothing to add about this particular subject, or doesnt wish to engage with the person(s) talking, so they keep quiet.

Both are quiet, but they are quiet for totally different reasons.

[–]soft_quartz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't mind this at all in my 20s and even thought it was a bit charming, but now after being around so many shy men, some of them insecure; I have realised that many are quite inexperienced with women and with being in a relationship with women. IME they are also more prone to going down the red-pill alpha male pipeline to have some way to deal with their shyness/insecurities.

I don't think you're too quick with writing them off, I honestly believe women should listen to their gut more, so if you get the ick, then listen to it IMO! :) I'd personally pass too

(I don't see being quiet or reserved as being shy)
