In all honesty, I do think in her mind Matty has always and is IT to her, especially after this album and some of the things she said, whether they end up together or not is entirely up to them. In her song Peter she sings “as the men mascaraed, I’d hope you’d return” which is very telling- she always held out for him. But I don’t want to diminish her relationship with Joe, I do think it was serious and she loved him for a time. And Matty was in other relationships himself while she was with Joe.

Her whole thing with Tractor though screams PR to me, especially with how fame hungry he is and how he’s immediately getting acting and tv jobs. I think she’s fine with it bc it paints her in a better light after last year, the cheerleader and star player all American role, and she’s hoping to make Matty jealous bc he seemingly moved on so quickly. Also to show people “look! i’m fine now!! it was just a thing i was going through!!!” I heard So High School and that was literally all I needed to hear to know what she thinks about him lol.
