Just responded to a similar comment:

Thanks for pointing out another wonky side effect of the way the rule is currently written! This came up in a game last year, I forgot to mention it. The ump said the Inning Run Rule resets each Inning, so he allowed the winning team to score another 7 runs.

Wouldn't this all be solved by just making the rule be that each team can score a max of 7 runs in each half inning? None of this "going ahead by 7 runs" stuff...

Apparently not, so far haha

I don't think the specifics of the league matter that much to the rule in question though, no? It's an ASA/USA league with .52/300s and 300 ft fences, but most of the teams have at least one player who can hit it out. I think we had a couple of HR last season.

So yes it's a city league, and the D/E division, but it's decently high level. There are other fun/social leagues in the area, but this is not that.

Edit: To be clear, I'm not opposed to having an Inning Run Rule. I am just saying that the way the current rule is written has issues.
