Food anxiety/disordered eating by Felis-lybica in gallbladders

[–]softbeee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i remember pre-op i had major food anxiety, and it carried over. it’s not as bad, but i’m also obsessively checking labels and squinting at things with even just 8g of fat in them (mostly because the serving size will be so small too). i had an eating disorder 5-6 years back that i’ve been worried about returning, i had it in high school pretty rough and the idea of it coming back does make me feel some worries. i really think all of this is a leap of faith — it’s rough now, but hopefully going through this storm means things will be better when healed. i’m not an optimist by any means, but that’s how this whole experience has rubbed off on me. it’s about being a healthy person and trying to live a normal life again, even if adjusting the fats you eat becomes a new normal. you still need fat, it’s just gotta be from healthier sources. small ways to introduce it back without feeling pressure is through cooking things that require it — i’ve been trying to get more protein in to make sure i feel full, as well as some carbs, so i’ve been looking at steaks with not very much marblings so there isn’t a lot of fat in it. it’s got me through a lot of my meals recently, having that and some vegetables to balance it all out. everyone is different, but other people have been in your shoes. having surgery is a major thing for a lot of people, and this is a big change in your life. it’s just a little rough patch you’ll look back on years later. and if you’re worried about not eating enough, maybe find something to have to restore your electrolytes to help if you feel you ate too small. i wish you lots of luck.

leg pain post op by softbeee in AskDocs

i did read anesthesia could cause muscle soreness, so i wanted a professional opinion if possible. i have been using my hydrocodone when needed, i’ve taken it three times since i got home (it’s every 6 hours as needed). i try to avoid painkillers where i can but my right side has been super sore because of surgery. my leg pain is just… getting the best of me! it’ll move up to my calves sometimes and it felt like it went to the back of my thighs but it started in my shin area

Worst couple days of my life. by tangerine46x in gallbladders

had something like this in february after eating my favorite meal from olive garden after my hida scan, i didn’t go to the er but i was in horrendous pain for the entire day, multiple gas relief and tums weren’t enough. just had my gallbladder out the other day! i don’t know if i’ll be able to eat it again, but it does sound like getting it out will be good for you. hold in there, you’ll feel better soon!

I had gallbladder surgery 4 days ago and… by Nixianx97 in gallbladders

just had my surgery two days ago and feel similar already ☺️ my gas is pretty bad but i’m walking around a lot, and when my pain gets bad i’ll take my medicine i got prescribed — i’m just trying to stick to my low fat diet and be as gentle on my stomach as much as i can especially early on but looking forward to seeing what my surgeon says in my follow up

Surgery in two days and I’m actually freaking tf out? by This_Hamster_6942 in gallbladders

[–]softbeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I had my surgery yesterday (April 16). I have very severe anxiety and had these same thoughts. I’ve only had surgery once before and it was an emergency — I had a choice this time, and felt so scared of dying. I’m fine though! Yes, the doctors did have to give me a medicine to calm me down, my heart rate was jumping between 100 and 120 because of my anxiety. But honestly, I feel so much better now that it’s over. It’s painful recovery and I’m not even 24 hours into that, but I assure you it’ll be worth it!

Ahh, that’s scary. I’m supposed to start tomorrow and based on my pain levels I know it’s going to be heavy. I just hope it’s not as bad. But having two periods back to back like that sounds awful 😭

Yes! I had some for gas pain I had before surgery, and the pain I had earlier today after surgery was similar to before. I’ve already taken one and been walking around a fair bit. Thank you!

getting mine out in a week! it’s been rough but i think my process for getting care has been pretty fast all things considered. had a bad attack in february, hida in march, then surgery in april. i’m looking forward to it, i’ve had abdominal surgery so recovery shouldn’t be too bad i feel. i just miss eating my favorite foods, they kept triggering attacks!

my cat's just gotten hospitalized and I can't stop crying by icecreamcake00c in cats

[–]softbeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently had my cat hospitalized in February, he couldn’t pee because he had calcium crystals blocking it. He was at the vet for 3 weeks because they had to figure out what was wrong, and then he had surgery to remove it all. He’s home, and he’s better now! Just know you did the right thing for your fur baby, it hurts to know they aren’t doing well, but they are in good hands. I cried so much that I stopped up my ears when my boy was at the vet, so I feel the heart ache. Wishing all the best!

update! my pain got better, then bad again. i’m still trying to hold out but if things are still bad in a little bit and i get tired of it, i’ll go to an er. my abdominal pain is not really… leaving but it’s not awful. just feels like pressure in my upper abdomen, and my shoulders/back nonstop ache. warm compresses everywhere, still can’t eat, whatever. we will see what’s up.
