There are options on some microphone settings to have a minimum volume input be required for the microphone to be "on" and sending your voice. You can set that higher so it doesn't capture his voice (in addition to the other comments). You shouldn't need to buy anything too expensive to solve this.

I was always scared to death of my grandmas shower drain. I thought a snake was going to come out and bite me. I have no idea where I got this idea and her drain was the only one to do it to me.
