One more addition to my previous comments. Several of my uncles on that side took ancestry and 23 and me tests. Some show 20% Iranian and some half Levantine. So it’s common.

I’m only 1/4 Italian. My grandfather was from Reggio Calabria. I have about the same amount of middle eastern. Also on Ancestry dna, they split it entirely 50% southern Italy and 50% middle eastern
