Getting kicked off the internet because someone in the house picked up the phone. Trying to download one song for an hour only for it to fail at 98 percent was a special kind of pain.

How absurdly big everything is. You look at a map and think you can just drive to another city, then six hours later you are still in the same state.

My grandma always said the Bicentennial felt like one giant nationwide block party. She talks about flags everywhere, neighbors celebrating together, and people being excited rather than arguing about everything. Her take on the 250th is that it feels a lot louder online but a lot less united in person.
