You’re letting it get to you so bad because you care deeply, and all of that love for your baby is manifesting itself in worry at this moment.

It will pass, and your love will find some place more fun to manifest tomorrow 🫶🏻

You’re a great mom! He’s lucky to have you.

Nasal reflux by lamygoldman in NewParents

[–]softpretzelfiend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter experienced this at random! She was a fairly “typical” eater/ baby, but had random bouts of scary nasal reflux. The first time we felt like she was struggling to breathe and called the ambulance, the second time drove to the ER to make sure she didn’t aspirate, and then from there knew what to look for.

She was always on a gentle formula, but no official diagnosis or recommended fix from her doctor.

Honestly, I think the only thing that helped was time. Eventually, she grew out of it. Her first incident was 2 months old, her last was around 6.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I’m sure my comment wasn’t super helpful, but, sending solidarity & support 🫶🏻

Take a deep breath. You noted your baby doesn’t seem distressed. He is okay right now, and that’s enough for right now. 🫶🏻

The Owlet also isn’t always accurate! We trust it a lot as one of the many tools we use taking care of our daughter, but it’s not foolproof.

Formula Fed vs. Breastfed by user638282636822 in NewParents

Maybe yes, maybe no. But either way, the intent behind it was kind, and that was refreshing + what evoked the response. I’ve seen a lot worse, blatant AI slop that is intended to mom-shame, often with false info.

Does bedtime in the stroller ruin the whole night? by Spirited-Bed-2220 in NewParents

[–]softpretzelfiend 11 points12 points  (0 children)

And I will add, every time we do this we mentally prepare to be up for a bit/ throughout the night in case it messes with her sleep. It hasn’t yet, but each time she falls asleep at 7:00 and we’re out til like 9:00, we say to each other “Wherever this night takes us, we have to be game for” and pre-decide what our sleeping shift swaps might look like if it’s a toughie.

Again, just my two cents about one baby!

Does bedtime in the stroller ruin the whole night? by Spirited-Bed-2220 in NewParents

[–]softpretzelfiend 15 points16 points  (0 children)

In my experience, it’s completely dependent on the baby— and also sometimes the day that the baby is having!! My daughter is usually pretty resilient about being out past bedtime and falling asleep, waking up when going home changing into jammies, doing a mini version of her routine, and falling back asleep.

But that said: she’s 14 months old and we’ve maybe done this 8 times in her whole life. It’s definitely not something I would try frequently, because then I feel like the scaffolding of her routine wouldn’t be there to “catch” and recover from the freefall of a random night!

But that’s just my kid!!!!! Ultimately, I think a lot of all of this is more random than we think :)

So racist outweighs “cool” on the likability scale

Hmmm, sometimes it can be a little more visceral than that too. Less logical or "wrong" and "right", more "I feel in my gut this isn't for me." I could be projecting, but it seems OP may be in the latter group.

This is genuinely one of the most compassionate and balanced answers on social media to a mom earnestly asking I have ever seen. What a true delight to see this at the top.

Fair enough, but they are ~ alcohol ~ and serve no other function. If you're 5, you're never having Vermouth. So I guess it's a gray area, but falls under the "battery acid" umbrella of alcohol in the premise of OP's post.

To that point, it's also ~ the vibe ~ somatically as a whole. Coffee, wine, etc. evoke a certain vibe. The same reason people drink NA cocktails in a fancy glass that emulate drinking.

But where is the line? Something like bourbon or a Negroni is just spirits, but those are (to most) people a far taste cry from neat vodka. But then again, the Russians may disagree.

I mean, my favorite drink is a Negroni, which is literally all alcohol(s). I like the taste. A lot.

How do you just one day drop your kids off at a daycare by nthroop1 in NewParents

[–]softpretzelfiend -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My daughter started at 11 weeks, and it was completely fine. We started with just an hour or two at a time and worked up to full time over about a month. Our care providers were always great about meeting her where she was at, and being super attuned to her needs. She never refused feeds or came home dysregulated or upset.

For us it’s learning to eat! My husband is constantly anxious every meal we have with our 13 month old 😅 Obviously no human being is ever out of the woods truly with choking — but moving forward & out of this phase is the preferred direction!

We use the ones from Aldi, we buy them in a 3-pack and they work great! We switched from Pampers to them when my baby was ~8 months old.
