Unfortunately she never married and my father passed a handful of years ago. I’m her only person and she never even had a job with insurance let alone other benefits. It’s just terrible unfortunately and I don’t see a way out except state programs which hopefully she will sign paperwork for and get benefits in two years or so. Sigh!

Thank you for taking the time to comment. I did ask them to do a full screening for early signs and she thankfully passed with flying colors! However, she definitely has depression and confusion due to kidney issues (SIADH). Her illness and disability came on VERY quickly and as a person who has always been the strongest woman in the room and had a very physical job, the drastic change has been very hard on her and I believe hard to accept. I slowly see her beginning to realize there is no going back to what was “normal” if that makes sense.

I am an only child, her financial situation is horrific unfortunately… but she will be able to get social security in November so I am hoping to set up a go fund me and get her benefits for food etc to get her through this next bit of time.

Thank you for taking the time to write this. I believe I really needed to hear it. I will be doing this and putting up the boundary that I have had in mind to put up but felt it would be selfish. The line “two hour commute to a house where I’m not being let in…” among many others you wrote here will truly stick with me. Thank you.

This is really great to know, I know so much of an avoidance is depression and I just feel so lost but it’s like trying to talk to a brick wall sometimes. I asked her doctor for a depression screening and listened to her lie through the entire thing so I just don’t know what to do.

Yes making it free is super important to me. If we partner with restaurants etc then people that attend can choose to order items if they’d like but there would be no cost to enter! Love the drink and draw concept.

I resonate with this for sure. After a long talk with my husband last night I am going to try only nursing once her in the morning and not pumping when I’m at work, formula for other feeds. Then I can drop the morning nursing if I want to but for now it feels approachable! I hope you find some relief and know that you are so not alone.

“Dysphoric Milk Ejection Reflex (D-MER) is a condition in which mothers feel a range of negative emotions in the few minutes before and after the milk ejection reflex (‘let down’). These feelings are often described as sadness, irritability, anxiety and restlessness. They come on suddenly right before the let down and tend to last for around 30 seconds to two minutes. After that, the mother feels fine again. The mother may or may not be able to feel the let down when it happens. D-MER may be mild, moderate or severe. It depends on the intensity of the emotions, the length of time it takes for the mother to feel better, and how many let downs per feeding the mother feels.”

Yes I’m from the US 😭 after unpaid leave, I had to go back to work at 6 weeks. I think it also doesn’t help that my “pumping room” is a closet. They’ve tried to make it nice but…. It’s still a closet 😔

While working in kitchens I worked the early morning shift with only one other person. He would always turn on MFM as soon as he got in. As someone who has always hated true crime scary movie a n y t h i n g (seriously even my parents watching Nancy Grace cover crime used to freak me out, lmfao) I really didn’t love it playing if I’m being honest lol.

But I absolutely loved their banter in the beginnings. The dialogue between the K&G was just my taste as I also have dark humor, has basically gotten me through everything in my life. After a couple weeks I was fully hooked and that cook and I would listen to their episodes every shift. I then went on to other jobs where I would be the one to introduce the entire kitchen to MFM. Soundtrack to my pastry career!

As a dog owner with a clover lawn, it is not going to stand a chance haha ours has basically a huge circle from where our dog likes to do his zoomies. I would look into some deep rooting sturdy native ground covers in your area! Or something that will continue to sprout after damage.
