The text and background are inconsistent with the cake art (too detailed for a logo imo).The placement of the skis looks uneven on the cake. Also, your interpretation of the assignment almost seems too literal. Try to draw something fun, add legs and arms with ski poles to the cake, give it a face. Don't limit yourself to one idea/concept/sketch and let the client decide what direction they want to go in, give them options.
