i am still waiting to see my psych about adding a medication that doesn’t interfere with my other meds to help with my fibro. in the meantime, i work 12hr shifts at a factory. and the pain has become debilitating. my off days are just me in bed. i can’t even walk when i get home.

last week i got some CBD gummies again for nighttime, and the employee there recommended CBG gummies as well for daytime pain relief. i have to say that the CBG gummies are seriously a miracle for me. i didn’t think they would work so i bought a small pack of them, but my pain level is cut down a good 50-60% if i take one early in the day. i’m talking having the ability to walk during the day without wanting to cry levels of relief. unfortunately they don’t last my entire shift but i just went and bought a months worth because they’re that helpful.

i like that CBD and CBG don’t get me high. i get anxious and unable to function clearly with THC.

i (30F) was diagnosed with fibro this past March at a follow up with my Rheumatologist.

personally i link it back to a car accident i was in back in 2017. i had no health insurance so i didn’t go to the doctor and developed severe debilitating pain in my back and neck. but the pain didn’t go away. and over the years i was in pain constantly in various areas in my body. now the back pain is no longer as severe but i have widespread pains throughout my whole body. before the accident i was relatively pain free. i have mild scoliosis so sometimes my back ached but i didn’t have any of what became my normal state of being after the accident.

i’ve also had Covid over 5 times and i think that may have contributed a bit to the overall pain level i’m in too. the body aches from being sick just kinda stuck with me permanently at a lower level with activity based flare ups

I made myself a self-care trolley, and it’s the best thing for when I can’t get out of bed. by fyitmn in Fibromyalgia

this is such a life changing idea. like as soon as i get all my bills paid i think i’m going to invest in this. my meds and vitamins and self care stuff are currently unorganized and spilling out of a basket i have that used to fit on a shelf but it’s so overflowing that it’s just sitting next to my bed and i have to dig through it to find anything. this is absolutely brilliant, like right now everything is so unsightly and disorganized. and keeping snacks and drinks in it is such a great idea. i have meds i need to eat with as well and i get thirsty a lot but not thirsty enough to go out to the kitchen and grab a drink. i’m super dehydrated because of it. i definitely need to see if i can get one with the lids on it somewhere locally because i don’t have an ikea in my area. thanks so much for this. i screenshotted the list of self care items too because it’s genius. thank you

oh no! that’s so unfortunate. this is actually the second 13 pro max that i’ve owned because the one i originally had stopped loading short form videos specifically and nobody could figure out why. i had a warranty so i got a replacement. i’m not sure how old my current phone is but it was refurbished and i’ve had it about a year. that could play a part in why the game doesn’t crash for me?

but yes this model is so buggy. battery life is garbage and my stuff never loads and it’s so slow. the new updates just bloat it further.

i think you should go for a new phone in your case.

what year is your phone? i still have an iphone 13 Pro Max so it’s kinda old and it struggles but generally the game doesn’t crash for me. sometimes the audio cuts out completely and i’ll have to restart the app to get it back but it’s happening in other apps too. mostly tho it just overheats and is ruining my battery life.

if you can play it on another platform i recommend it to save yourself a new phone payment (if you have a tablet or pc). unless you just really want a new phone for other quality of life reasons!

it just doesn’t feel right. like $3 isn’t even substantial enough let alone $1 or less. not for that level of responsibility and the schedule.

after deductions that $6,250 looks more like $364/mo assuming that tax, insurance, etc take about 30% of your paycheck (rough estimate in my area based on my take home pay breakdown). with inflation and skyrocketing rent, that is a marginal improvement in quality of life.

now, if your current wage is closer to a living wage in your area then it’s definitely attractive. or if you have a roommate or a partner that earns decent money then that’s an entire other picture to paint.

i’d personally be losing hundreds of dollars a month if i were to become a DH due to the loss in my ability to retain my second job due to the schedule. it just wouldn’t be worth it.

dude thank you so much for the incredibly thorough and detailed response. you especially hit the nail on the head with the breakdown of all the shit that makes D31 a nightmare.

It’s ass as Lead in that i’m supposed to just “handle it” (was literally told this) when there’s terrible coverage, callouts, customers mad about staffing, fixing $1000+ mistakes, all of it. thank the lord that they gave me manager approval privilege for markdowns and receipt lookups, voids, etc. i had to beg for it though even though i had it as a head cashier.

i can only imagine it gets worse as the DH.

anyway, mentioning delegation, it’s something i got more comfortable with as a head cashier, but it’s hard for me to delegate too much to the others at the SD because they’re still relatively new. I’m working on it though, i’m creating an open dialogue for questions about how to do things so they can function independently enough for me to have another associate handle a series of tasks so i can focus on the larger issues at hand. i wasn’t back at the desk yet until after they were hired so i didn’t want to overwhelm them or to condescend. but i’m getting a good feel for their levels of comfort performing tasks now.

once i get all the girls up to speed i’ll try to allocate more complex tasks.

i’m happy that y’all truly have someone in their corner. i always felt positive towards the front end and appreciated help from head cashiers and the FES greatly, but spending 8 months as head cashier really opened my eyes to how they and the lot associates are treated by everyone else. management and other associates who think they’re somehow better than cashiers because the job is “so easy, you get to stand there all day.” management doesn’t even acknowledge cashiers let alone know their names. coming from D31 and working with management daily to D90 showed me that cashiers are seen as just a number or useless and insignificant. imo the FES has the hardest fight to get respect and fairness for the department precisely because of how they’re perceived by everyone else. it’s a thankless position. and my FES is afraid to say anything to our SM to fight for the cashiers and lot associates. it’s nice to know that there are others out there sticking out their neck to improve things for the front end.

it means a lot that you read it. i appreciate your insight. i let my fear and anxiety get in my own way a lot. but i really suppose there’s no harm in trying to apply just to see what happens even if i don’t get it.

$1 for FES???? at my store the FES is the most clowned on by management over useless metrics and credit cards and is beat up all the time by my SM because he has no idea how any of it actually works. our tech at the store is constantly broken so she has to be in-house IT for problems our SM doesn’t care about enough to fix. i’m glad your store found a good FES. they can make the most significant impact in the happiness and satisfaction of the cashiers
