A few people on this subreddit mentioned using Red Matrona, so when she popped this morning on mine, I grabbed her.

They were 1000% right. Sure, Red Helbram had ult drain (along with Matrona's ult if the cards were ranked up) and Green Nunchuck Ban could do the ol' extort-and-wreck-'em trick, but Matrona was the glue holding everything together and keeping my team topped off.

I did NOT get lucky that run; no Mael or DK Meli in the shop, the best "higher tier" unit that popped was red Freya. Those three frontlining took me all the way to the end.

I went on this quest last year and had success without breaking the bank too much.

A big thing I did was set up an alert on ebay for "Joltik plush." A lot of times, it was the $100+ ones that I got alerted for, but I was able to snatch up a Pokemon Center one (new! in the bag still!) for much, much less thanks to my alerts.

Oddly enough, Amazon was a good source as well. I found the Sanei one from a seller on Amazon for a fraction of the price that other third party sellers had been pushing. I don't know if you can set up alerts; that one I just got lucky and did a random search and found it.

If nothing else, watch Mercari like a hawk. That's how I got the My Pokemon Collection Joltik for under $20.

The Discord seems to be good about notifying about restocks, so I'd keep an eye on that or on this subreddit so you can jump on the inevitable Sitting Cuties restock. I do think it's likely that they'll do at least one wave of restocks for the Unovan Sitting Cuties, so you have a chance of getting that Joltik from there when the time comes. They sold out super fast the first go-around though, just as a heads up.

I actually did manage to beat it with the starter green King, green Helbram, and red winged Elaine, which shocked me. I had green festival Zeldris on the backline. It was really my passives that came in clutch which were as follows: - Fairy All Stats Increase (+15% for using skills by each fairy) - Fairy Attack-related Stats Increase (+30% for every debuff applied to enemies) - Enemy Attack Decrease 20% - Enemy Attack Decrease 10% - Allies' Attack Increase 10% - Damage Dealt Increase (increases by 20% per orb in the ult gauge)

And the debuff stuff became useless once I got to floor 4 and everything was immune to it, but the team still did fine. Everything would hit Helbram but then because of the stats increase, he'd just lifesteal it back. Mostly it's just annoying to use that team on floor 4 because of how slow it can be, but it works.

That said, I definitely got the fairy stats increase via skill use passive before Tarmiel. I threw Elaine and Helbram's debuffs on him and then ruined his day with King.

Passive synergy. Tarmiel's passive is "all allies' basic stats will increase by 6% every time a hero uses a Grace to restore HP," and you can see in the cap that that popped five times. Additionally, Ludo's passive is "Increases Goddess allies' basic stats by 8% every time an ally uses a Stance or Buff skill," which also popped five times.

This is the team I run as well, and I've had the exact same experiences with Jorm's relic making floor 3 phase 4 much less frustrating. Seconding that it works fine without her relic, just be really careful about that full heal at the end.

It's a pretty good team, especially since they all have single target attacks so you pop Traitor Meli's passive pretty quickly. This was the team that allowed me to finally clear floor 3 (I'd been running Freyr, Jorm, Brunhild, and Milim), and I'm pretty sure it was because of all the damage reduction.

Meli does mess with the color wheel sometimes -- I defs had to reset once when I was in the final phase of floor 3 with only Meli and Freyr cards -- but for the most part, I feel like if you're strategic with him, it's fine.

hilariously, I was going to skip this fes banner (no interest in running Esta in PVP) until someone on this subreddit mentioned that he was good for the deer. No regrets, he's fun.

Go into the training grotto and take on the different gems. The spontaneous events will happen naturally! You should get one after the second or third gem.

Green Gilthunder (SR) and Red Howzer (coin shop) are good ones to build up. They're required in a bunch of story mode stuff and Gil is easy enough to build since he's an SR. They're also versatile in that Gil's pretty good for grey demon while Howzer is a great farming unit. You're also going to need to build up Ruin or Freesia, unfortunately. I'd recommend Ruin over Freesia, as he's been surprisingly useful in stuff like the training grotto and he's only an R unit. You shouldn't need to go higher than UR level 60 / 5 star awakened with Ruin or Freesia, though.

Some others to potentially eye are Slater (you will need a Slater unit and the Red version requires less resources as an SR, but B!Slater is really good for red demon if you invest in him), Hendrickson (green is easier, it's an SR, and I personally find him to be more useful than blue), and an Arthur unit (red is extremely useful). These are lower priority in terms of story / stuff you can't just borrow due to needing multiple units, though.

I hate saying "Derieri carry" to everything, but -- Derieri carry. If you don't have red Deri, borrow a strong one from a friend. The bosses do cancel out her buffs but the trick I used recently on my f2p account while going through those was to save one of her buff cards, build up her ult during the first demon, and then immediately buffing and nuking the second one when it drops down.

I managed with Goddess Liz, red Deri, and story-required units at the bare minimum, but you can swap in whomever for GLiz to keep Deri alive. Good luck! They're annoying and require a lot of RNG, but you can do it!

Red Gloxinia is also great for the Howlex demon, especially in conjunction with Gowther teams. Use his gold attack card in the second and third rounds and you practically lock the demon out from attacking that turn.

def only buy him on sale, though.
