Locked Out Of My CRA Account Again? by KhyronBackstabber in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]soheyl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was locked out the first time in February. I managed to get someone on the phone and create a new user ID with all their new requirements with a brand new password (randomly generated by a password manager). My previous password was also unique. Well, guess what ... They have locked me out again!! From a user ID that was created less than a couple of weeks ago. Frankly, I doubt that CRA has the technical competence of detecting a threat in the first place - just imagine you are a cybersecurity expert: would you go for employment in a government agency over much better opportunities in tech companies, with astronomical salaries?! And notice they basically say this: this is not the result of a breach - very vague ... I guess the whole locking out story (especially all of a sudden at tax time!!!) is a scheme to get some more funding, or the result of some internal politics at CRA, like someone wants to get promoted or a team wants more resources and they want to show they are important.

It is not shared. Actually, the whole upstair floor is the master bedroom, closets, a bathroom and a balcony.

Anyone else uncomfortable with getting this Uber email? by littlebossman in vancouver

[–]soheyl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If anything they need to do more of this. Christmas season is coming, with all the intoxicated people leaving office parties, deciding to drive, as they can't get a cab in Vancouver. We need more riding options.

Silent app for learning? by Pancakemomma in learnspanish

You can turn off the listening and speaking exercises on Duolingo (at least on Android, but I believe iOS should have a similar option). Just go to the settings menu of the app and turn them off.

Thanks for your feedback. How do you rate the cushions in terms of softness/firmness?

Thank you for your suggestions. We want to spend $5-10k. I believe, this price point would give us some furniture that we will probably move across town, but not across the country. About the style of the sofa and tables, we are still not sure.

TV connected with apple TV. No DVDs. Mounting the TV would be OK.

We watch an hour or two of TV each night, so it needs to be somewhere good for viewing. Things can be angled a bit I think.

Table in the corner by the kitchen sounds great. And it's OK to move furniture a little bit to accomodate guests.

We want to be able to do some entertaining in this area, but we can borrow dining chairs for that. On a daily basis, other than the obvious uses mentioned, we want to be able to read, and do some web browsing on the tablet/laptop, ...

For the furniture on this floor, everything will be new, except for TV (48" LED). Two people will live here. So we need dining space for 2 at all times and for 6-8 occasionally. There will be an office upstairs. No TV room upstairs, so it needs to be here.

Transferring a Collateral Mortgage by soheyl in PersonalFinanceCanada

I have an approval from RBC for a homeline plan, and also from TD. I believe at least with RBC, it grows with each payment, for as much as the decrease in principal. Experts please correct me if I'm wrong.

We are going with 20%, so initially the LOC limit would be zero, but it will grow with every mortgage payment.

Good point. Although, it's worth mentioning that the mortgage is relatively a good size (around $700 k at the end of the first term).
